v8 or 10? 8. There are V10s around in budget, but they just aren't in good enough nick. Seriously, this thing is immaculate, and with every conceivable option. That's one of the hardest things about finding a good one-they are all optioned differently...and this is a model on which the options can make or break the car. The only thing it doesn't have is the carbon packages, and I am retrofitting those. |

Thought I'd bust out some pics of the old girl with the new plates on...I'll be taring it up a fair bit, and will get some proper photos done after that.

I am sure you would have had to of watched the documentary on the R8 (maybe mega factories or something similar). I remember when they were commenting on the side panels how they made them a different colour to give the illusion that they aren't so long from the doors back. It deffinately works because that one of yours being all black looks ridiculously long in the back end. Nice car all the same! |

Yep, I've got the carbon side blades and mirrors on order, for that very reason. |

awesome mate, congrats.. love the plates i was going to say the same thing. saw something ironman 3 related the other day where they were talking about the car, how they had to redesign one of the scenes on account of not being able to smash up the car / flip it in the desired way actually, it was megafactories on channel 72, audi factory. nice choice on car wolfie. |

I had to combine the fun factor of my GTV with the fuel economy of my 156 and I prefer sports cars to hot hatches by a long shot. |

I had to combine the fun factor of my GTV with the fuel economy of my 156 and I prefer sports cars to hot hatches by a long shot. I can't say that I would have even come close to considering any sort of Toyota 2 years ago, just saying. You know, because the entire range was boring and sucky. Just like Honda, Nissan and Mazda. 370Z or RX8 I can't afford (clearly, I've just ordered a $30k car and it's half the price of those), and both of those cars would use just as much fuel as my GTV would so fcuk them The 86 is like an S13, cheap and fun but new. You explained your reasoning pretty well, but I just can't dig it. I'd much rather scrape another 5-8k together and get a Megane RS or even a Veloster Turbo. God I hate the 86/BRZ. I was so hyped about it, and it came out such a lame duck. |

I'll be selling both of my cars in order to get a more "liquid" car so to speak (probably a mid-00's Toyota whitegood). That way when it comes 86 delivery time, I can either trade in if the offer is good enough, or sell it quickly after taking delivery. |

I'm the opposite of you wolfie, I can't dig those Velosters at all. The rear valance type deal on them is interesting though, and the colour selection by far beats Toyota with the 86. That being said, I have been deliberating over my colour choice all day today and still can't decide. I like the white and it's on the order at the moment but I will be advising on Monday what's my final choice. The TE37's will be going on it which is pretty cool. I was worried the 86 was regular Jap fit, but that is not the case coz of the Suby influence, presumably. They run like a 6.5+48 stock so my 7.5+30 is gonna look the goods. Will be getting coilovers first thing too. Lowered, TE37, and a TRD intake tube (this accentuates the intake noise which is piped into the cabin) and a lip spoiler is about all I have planned for the first year of ownership. Interior is a very big consideration for me too though Dale, and pretty much everything, even the Hyundai, poops all over the shocking Toyota/Subaru effort. I sat in one on the first day they were for sale, and I just couldn't get past it. The Veloster at least has an "interesting" look about it to me as well, while the Toyobaru looks like a microwave...and sounds like one too, unfortunately. At least you have done the right thing and gone for the base version though. At 30k the car is not too badly overpriced, but up toward 40...yowza! I WOULD get white though, like you are thinking... |

I actually don't mind the no-BS interior of the 86, it kind of says "here's the gears, here's the steering wheel, now go drive". At least the plastic is somewhat textured, that way it looks more quality. The easily upgradeable headunit is a plus - though with BT Audio, Apple Maps(lol) and handsfree I won't really need to. I don't even care that the aircon control is a direct port from like a Yaris, and turned sideways. At least I know there's no weird things that can go wrong with the aircon. Like my 156, recently busted the aircon fan's electronic speed controller. All coz climate control lol |

lol veloster turbo... terrible looking cars. hyundai also That was kind of my point-just pointing out that I think that the 86 is so unappealing to me that there are even Hyundais that I'd take over it these days! Also, you see fewer of them (the turbo ones anyway). I've NEVER seen a new model explode as fast as the Toyobaru...went from none to every man and his dog in like a month. As I said though, GL with it, and I'm genuinely impressed at your ability to chase what you like, regardless of the make. I had always had you pegged as a closed-minded "Euro only" person. Glad to see I was wrong! |

If you're deliberating colour. I'll make things a little easier for you. Stick with either grey or black. Avoid bright or white colours. QLD's shitty roads and their abortion of a job they use for constructions of them leads to tar specks being flung onto cars in no time. And then you're in for a lot of time wasted getting it off your car. Now that you mention it I do remember that being a problem on my white Mirage I used to own. So between having always-dirty black and tar spotted white, grey would be the ultimate in having the ability to neglect my cars paintwork and have no one know about it? Ultimate solution: |

Glad to see I was wrong! I saw two of them on my test drive... lol. I do like what I like and definitely don't like what I don't like, it's only a problem when someone doesn't like what I like and I don't like what they like . I definitely wasn't considering anything from Alfa, they sell two hatchbacks and yet they are supposed to be a manufacturer which makes "sporty cars", so it begs the question why so practical, and why no Giulietta GT Coupe. Regardless it would be out my budget if it existed, but it would be a sweet car. I didn't even buy the Toyota for RWD, but that being said I probably wouldn't have thought about this car if it was just another FWD Celica. |
