Nice mate, beautiful bike to ride.
I had the same model, bought it new in 2005 and had it for nearly 7 years.
Got it up to 278km/h before I ran out of bitumen on a private track. That's why shes gone know, would have ended up dead or in a whole world of trouble.

Neat looking bike. Why bother with a turbo charger or nos?.You can't even top it out on public roads let alone why would you.

would be nice with a turbo and nos then go for fastest r6 or at least fastest r46 but its all $$$$ and time so jst keep the ks down for now.
chix dig scars and only the good die young

And knowing a stock thousand would eat you for breakfast. Not worth the time and money unless you're going to track it,it would be pointless for the hills.

as for a stock 1000cc eating it for breakfast check out the power to weight difference between the r6 and r1 for 05 modles and maybe have a look at r6s vs r1s in 1/4 mile times.

Aaron Gobert Yamaha Yamaha YZF-R6 2:20.580

These are Gobert's qualifying times recently at road america for superstock and supersport.

at the end of the day any1 can buy a stock or modified r1 or r6 and watch the price drop (re-sale value) my r46 has gone up $1500 scince i bought it and if rossi died (god forbid) $$$$$$$$$$$ bit like having a commadore or a brock commadore none the less i like my bike and like r1s and many other super sports. dont c y people get there back up over what other people have or have to constantly lay the boot in for no apparent reason.

But the average rider on the street won't be able to touch those times. Hell R1's do 9 seconds with a professional rider on board,many/most do 11seconds and compare that to the average rider.

    05 R6 - 123HP/68.5NM 161KG Dry
    05 R1 - 170HP/104NM 172KG Dry

What i was trying to point out that it would be a good investment for the drag strip and most certainly not for hill runs.Sorry but i am far from jealous of you having an R6.

no need to apologise and i never said or presumed you would be jelous as for power to weight hp per kg is fcuk all as for 1/4 mile times its around a second different so as for hp per kg r6 0.7639751552795031
and r1 0.9883720930232558 so the difference is 0.2243969377437527 thats only 0.22 tenths of a hp per kg difference doesent seem like much when you do the maths. hill runs ??? your talkn about a lighter bike you can throw around more easily most yamaha forums and r1 r6 forums favour the r6 for just that guess we will have to agree to dissagree

No doubt 600cc bikes would be more nippy in the hills,i was talking about slapping a turbo on and doing it.I have nothing against you for owning an R6,actually glad you made the choice and got a Yamaha, kudos for riding.

cheers bloke yeah a good buying point for me was especially the YAMAHA having there services at 10000 instead of 6000 as most bikes are so for every 3 services on a different make is only 2 services for the yamaha

My services in the R1 manual says every 15,000?.
