I'll have to come up with some sort of timeout and retry functionality.

Lol.
Has anyone mentioned about it thrashing the battery?
Maybe it's just my shitty phone needing a restore.

My battery died in about 5 hours during the competition, but I was posting fairly constantly so not to bad in my opinion.

When you close safari all the JavaScript gets suspended so it shouldn't hammer the battery.

Or is this a Chrome on iPhone thing that I need to look at? LoL

I just checked out chrome on my iPhone and it doesn't do anything in the background when its minimised....

So I guess it should be any harder on your phone than Facebook :P

I could disable the poller and introduce a refresh button instead... *shrug*

Shouldn't be any harder rather.

Don't disable the poll. I was just saying it :)

My phones plugged in and I'm slowly using the battery quicker than I can charge it.

Mcleod
Post #1061

But yeah I guess my phone does get a bit warm :P I can make it lighter on the battery by stretching out the polling from say 7.5 seconds to 30 seconds.

Yea but 30 seconds you're likely to miss the conversation flow.

30 seconds is a long time... Just ask
Anyhoo how about the weather...

Have you considered making an actuall app for iPhone/iPad/galaxy?. Not sure on how it all works and if it's possible or not but may be able to sort something out along the line of push notifications etc?.

Yeah, I have a Boost Classifieds app that's almost ready for release and push notifications for seller enquiries is on my agenda.

But I'm hesitant to release to the App Store until its 'awesome', rather than just functional.

Probably me just being picky, but an app for a Boost Cruising is also on my agenda.

If Firefox on PC is anything to go by I wouldn't use it on the phone.

And having an android is a shit option to start with anyway.

Nothingman
Post #1074

I don't know, Chrome for iPhone came out after I had switched to android. It would have to be better than safari, most browsers are (barring netscape).

Firefox for Android is pretty awesome, has a nice plug in which allows you to view source, no Firebug option that I could find yet but I hope its somewhere in development.

I don't have access to a computer so am oblivious to what is good and what isn't.
I've taken your word for it and gone with chrome, waiting for it to download and see the difference.

Each to their own.
I know I'm hesitant to use something that I am dependant on for work to be easily open to shit software etc etc.
that's why I have a no android policy at work. And with 15 software developers here its saying something when they also agree.

Nothingman
Post #1084

Have to agree on the apps. Apple's policy and usual 2 week wait time for review before it is published means pretty much everything has been thoroughly checked. Android you publish whatever you like pretty much straight away. Sure its easier but definitely a loophole.

Funny story actually.

The reason I went back to iPhone was because of this.
I was outside of dot with a mate waiting for our ticket to get called. Playing along and my mate said to me, " so what's the go with those galaxies, any good?" I reply with casual chat and ultimately how much better they were. I then held it from about 4ft high and continued to drop it on its face, not a scratch. He was pretty impressed and so was I at the time. That very same afternoon I got home and hopped out of the car forgetting I had left it on my lap. Yeah, shattered into a million pieces.... Bought the iPhone I have now the next day, grabbed my self an otter box and can confidently say it won't be braking on me anytime soon.
