Engine: 1.8, 5 speed manual

Exhaust: Stock

Suspension: Stock

Wheels: Stock

Modifications: Zilch

Stereo Audio / Visual: Shitty aftermarket headunit, new one yet to go in

Estimated Power: ~106kW, minus 13 years of wear and tear

Picked this NB up on Friday night, 91,000km on the clock. The pictures the guy posted on carsales don't do it justice. Perfect paint, perfect interior, and perfect roof. No tears or fading on roof or interior, no leaks, no rattles, no cracks, scratches or chips anywhere. Tyres less than 2,000km old, Serviced 900km before sale, everything about it is just awesome.

Having come from an auto turbo diesel Triton to this, it's a bit of a change. U-turns in narrow streets, roundabouts at any speed you want, and straight line is more than enough too. I think on paper the 0-100 is around 7.8sec. Doesn't sound like much, but it's a big step up from what I had. Plans for mods, not really sure at the moment... Popular opinion is that most mods slow it down, other than maybe swaybars.

Looks really tidy mate! Please don't fit like 10" steel rims with 185 rubber to it.

Wouldn't dream of it. If I'm gonna modify stuff, I want to improve it, not make it look like it's missing a chromosome.

Lucky you didn't buy a bigger car it wouldn't have fit in your garage. Nah it looks pretty cool, I wanted one of these for a while but it never panned out.

Yeah, I wasn't expecting it to in the first place actually. Smaller than it seems. Can't believe how nimble it is, could just about do a u-turn in the driveway.

Another couple of photos. Got there, started taking photos, rain started again. Conveniently, I live next door. Gave me an excuse to see if I could make it slid out with sharp cornering in the carpark. Failed miserably.

I've never driven one, so my opinion isn't really valid.
But I've always thought "chicks car" but when I've seen them done right I love them..
I just can't wrap my head around owning one...

I have had the chick's car comment once or twice. Mostly it comes from the kind of person who is fulli sick and has 195s on 9" rims. I would argue that I'd rather be driving a chick's car than look like I can't afford tyres that fit tongue.gif

    Why would I need a 1DX? I have a 1D4 tongue.gif

Great cars the MX5's, the only people who don't like them are those who havn't driven one!

I had this one back around 2005:

Nice one, I had one of these as my first car... It was loads of fun but I copped a lot of sh!t from my mates for driving a hairdresser car. Didn't give a sh!t it was a fun car, thinking about getting a turbo one next year. Good luck with it.

if you go hardtop it needs ducktail!
