She still has the Original Cross Ply spare tyre in the boot from 1968.

All i have done so far is repaint the rims as the previous owner thought the Red Rim wannabe rat look was cool.

Future Plans: It's a long List

Complete Resto on Panel & Paint back to Factory Original codes.
Interior Retrimmed to Factory Colour Combo
Remove Factory Driveline (will be wrapped and put away for safe keeping)

New engine combo will be.
304 Cube Holden v8
650-750 HP Series Holley
Torque-Power Dual Plane Lowrise Manifold
Ported VN Heads (polished factory rocker covers)
Crane h304 Hydraulic Cam (with Isky springs to suit) .520thou lift
Crane Rollers
Rollmaster Timing Chain
Romac Balancer
ASR Street Series Fabricated Sump
MSD 6AL-2 Ignition
MSD Pro Billet Dizzy

Stage 3 Shift Kitted T350 Gearbox
3800-4000rpm Convertor
Trans Cooler

28 Spline VL Turbo BorgWarner Disc Brake Diff
3.7:1 LSD

Front Brakes will be upgraded to HK Monaro twin piston calipers and slotted discs.

This project will take a while and i don't plan on ripping her off the road till I have all of the mechanicals sorted.

I am sure there are things I may have left off, but the general idea is to keep her Old School Original with a fresh heart.

leave it as is! it'll be worth more original you'll just ruin it with the V8 conversion.

as soon as you start pulling all the original gear out of it it'll be worth half what it would be with all the factory original setup. anything over 30+ year is now beeing condisered a collectors items.
so it's just going to be another perfect example of a nice straight clean car that has been ruined by yet another unoriginal been done a million times V8 conversion

Your point is somewhat valid, but being that i have owned my fair share of 40+ year old Holdens
i think i have a pretty good indication on their 'value' and since i don't plan on parting with
this one i am honestly not interested in the inherent value.

In saying that, at what point in my above description does it say it will be
modified in such a way that it can't be returned back to standard guise?

As i said, ALL of the original running gear will be retained in a safe place.
I also remember typing that the panel/paint/interior will be returned to better than factory.

As for being worth more, sadly thats no really the case unless its say a monaro or famous car the originality will hardly raise the value (maybe 1-3k) unless its an extreme case, as seen with the recently found HZ Sl with 998 original miles (for sale for 40k) . I think the 304/308 conversion would be awesome Every car should have a V8 under the bonnet. In the end its his car, and none of our opinions really matter in the end

Was only kidding about the tubs lol, i'm not cutting her up.

Standard 14'' steel wheels & hubcaps will stay as will whitewalls.

I'm not going a highrise manifold, don't want to fit a cowl scoop or cut a hole in the bonnet.

It will stay looking as is, except with fresh paint & interior.

Why are people jumping on this 308 bandwagon, 304, obviously already has 304 heads, easy to find blocks with standard bores, TP dual plane manifold and carby to keep it oldschool. Only problem i can see might be having to meet 304 emissions with the carby but i would assume its staying on 6cyl rego? No problems here..

Won't be staying on 6 banga Rego, if i did that and was pulled over it would be a massive sh!t fight.

It'll be rego'd as an 8 once the conversion is complete.

The emissions question is an interesting one, i would be interested in seeing if i have to look into it since I am not using anything other than block/heads from the 304.

    nice car mate
and all the people saying a v8 conversion would devalue it.. well need to get there head checked...
yeah the car is a nice car.. however it is far from the type of car where originality is the major concern for desirability...

all i can say is if you build it to how you say your are .. its gonna be one sweet Sunday cruiser

Yeh well i looked into a conversion using a 308 short with 304 heads and carby for my v6 vn calais but since the factory option came out with much more strict emissions laws getting a legit blue plate for it would of been impossible, not to mention converting efi to carby is illegal on its own. Bought a 5L VL i did lol problem fixed.

But, hk's obviously came out long before the new emissions laws in the late 80s.

I'm sure it will all work out fine.

Be surprised if i even have to have the front disc brake conversion mod plated.....

But I plan on having it 100% legal and registered. Don't want Mr Plod being able to hammer me for anything now do we

V8 & 6cyl club rego are the same price, so no need to try to cheat the system.

    Incorrect.

HK/T/G vehicles in original condition with correct engine/trans combos are pulling some good numbers of late. A lot of pre 70 cars are being bought back to their original state now rather than be modified. What was once plentiful is now scarce and hard to find.

    Cheers Ben,

You would have seen it at Kosmos saturday night as we weren't at Munchies.

All in all, i am not particularly bothered with 'resale' value, as this will probably be the last car I 'build' (unless i come into a lot of money)
In saying that, i will be doing my best to keep all the mods reversable, in case i ever feel the need to return her back to original spec.

Only things changing will be driveline.
