Hi guys Need some advice, ive never come across this before :S looking under my bonnet ive pulled some part numbers on things that i might wanna change just seeing if there good or not, and i came across my engine torque damper, did a bit of googling and it looks like the previous owner has used a motorcycle steering damper as an engine torque damper :S Ive never come across this has anyone else? is this really normal or should i change to a proper damper XD tbh it worked well but there was still a fair bit of "twist" when i gave the car some. Here is a pick of the damper: This post has been edited by basscreator89: Feb 13 2012, 03:18 PM |

A damper isnt meant to hold it solid.... It will still move. The damper is for vibration, not for engine twist. Same as a shock absorber or steering damper - they allow steady solid movement, while restricting short sharp quick movement back and forth. Id say it is doing exactly what it is meant to be doing. Id just leave it. |

I would be more concerned about the unsecured pod filter. Dont worry that thing aint moving anywhere Held down by a 5mm thick bracket and 2x12mm bolts the look on the officers face is priceless when he goes "that pod filter is a defect as its not secure" *attempts to shake the pod filter assembly while sweatting bullets and going red in the face....* "Never mind.." |
