Been a bit dead in here lately, how are everyones cars going? When do you think they will be on the road for some cruising? smile.gif

Cheers!

.
CHrysler stuff for the 265 -
New 465 holley carby, new cain hemi inlet manifold (ceramic coated), and a 2" piece of billet that has been CNC machined into a smooth flowing spacer :-)

.
Not pictured, but also have pacemaker extractors, and a decent length of heat wrap for the pipes.
Also picked up an early model distributer to piss the electronic lean burn business off, and a Bosch HEI module to run it.
Also - my coffee table :-)

Theres plastic engine blocks on ebay for mock up, would be sweet to use one as a table, about $500 though

Was $50 and its got virgin bores - so not a bad block for if i actually had to use it! I use the bores as remote holders.

Any chance someone in the Brisbane-ish area has a engine crane I could use for a week or so? Rather not buy one for a one time use.

Will pay etc.

I've got a crane an stand you can use if you want. I'm on the southside. Will be home from work on Tuesday. Hopefully I won't need it for a while. Up to you dude.

Fuck its annoying trying to sit and engine/gearbox on a pallet as one. How the fuck do people do it? And how the shit do you get the engine actually onto the pallet, stupid fucking legs on the engine crane are always in the way. I've resorted to resting the pallet on the legs but now it wants to tip off the front as the motor is heavier than the gearbox.

I'm gunna stab someone..

If the hump on your sump fits in a tyre. Throw a tyre under there for a bit of support. Worked for me smile.gif

Easier if you have a ute to load engine onto pallet, have the pallet in the tray, the crane legs can move uner the ute, and the pallet will already be loaded obviously.

Edit- So, I came across a hidden wreckers down my way and got the owner's number, I'm going through on Saturday if it isnt raining by then. I cant list yet what cars he has but they are all old and somewhat collectable, there's even a complete Lotus Cortina and a Toyota RT72 Corona coupe in there. Lots of old Fords, Holdens, Datsuns, Toyotas etc, some cars I cant even recognise. So if anyone wants to me to keep an eye out for a particular model and associated parts, let me know by Saturday lunch.

Where did you buy the spacer and carby? smile.gif

Cheers

lil_bobby_260
Post #2123

The spacer is just an ebay item dude. Can get them in 1" or 2", i went 1" for bonnet clearance. THey are from Procomp Motorsport. Bit of a hit and miss brand quality wise, but theres not a lot that can go wrong with a spacer!
THe carby is one i bough a few years ago. It has since been bead blasted and powdercoated, and had all the linkages and butterflies re-galvanised. Obviously rekitted too. Looks a charm... THe guy who does it is amazing.

Sweet, what is the benefit over the bakolite one? i mean, theres a $65 difference, is it really worth going the billet one?

FATTIE
Post #2128

I would think the Bakolite one would be a better insulator .... But what would I know

Go Bakolite, less heat..

Just google carb spacer, there were about 20 of them.
Latest bit of playing around - Modified the inlet manifold to match up perfectly with the spacer, as well as removed the bridge (??) to fit the plenum pig.

FATTIE
Post #2131

Well i'll be fucked, just read up on these Pigs..

30hp gain for $100

NEVER seen anything like this ,

lil_bobby_260
Post #2132

Bakolite is a heat insulater, so yes they do keep carby cooler to an extent. However i couldnt find a bakolite one that has been machined for flow like the alloy one i bought. The one i bought isnt just a spacer, it is machined for flow. Matches up with the carby and directs the flow to the pig etc.
And Fattie the plenum pig as ben around for decades. You can see from the photos what it is meant to do. directs flow down the runners as opposed to air rushing through the carb and just hitting the flat base in the inlet manifold. We will see how it goes. It was a freebie due to a mistake in the ad for the manifold i bought so the price was right!
These will not just give 30hp on any car you whip them on. Will obviously differ. Id expect between 10 and 30 or more HP depending on what else has been done to the vehicle. With the 265's initial build, im expecting about a 20hp gain. That said, im not going to run the car without it first to test it. If i had paid for it i might.

lil_bobby_260
Post #2133

This one looks good -
CLICKY FOR SPACER
This is the spacer i wanted but wouldnt be able to fit a decent filter under the bonnet with it. Much smoother than just sitting a carby on a manifold.

CAM-327
Post #2134

Thanks for the advice guys, just ordered the 1" bakolite spacer, only $36 to my door, can't go wrong, and the bakolite style one is what im running at the moment with the 2 barrel and it performs perfect.

Cheers smile.gif

Cheers for the offer, unfortunately I need it for this weekend though. sad.gif Looks like I'll just have to buy one... $275 to hire one for a week from Kennards - ridiculous!
