Not a chance in hell.

There is more rust than paint in that vehicle, could land a better condition one here from the US that needs work for around the same or a bit more.

Sure its got some rust repair panels but with rust that bad, you would have to make the assumption the chassis is fucked as well, not to mention pretty much having to replace every single suspension component, new spring hangers etc etc.

I was looking at that lower rear quarter photo thinking 'damn thats gotta be bad underneath'. Oh well, I can dream for now (and finish the car I have lol)

In the eyes of pre-85, is this worth what he's asking or nope? Taking into consideration what it is, most replacement panels, and motor running with compliance... <a rel="nofollow" href="http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Plymouth-Barracuda-1974-318-V8-Rally-red-resto-project-Melbourne-outer-east-/250903768542?pt=AU_Cars&hash=item3a6b07adde" target="_blank">http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Plymouth-Barrac...=item3a6b07adde</a>

Considering his starting price is 7K,is that the final price or he asking more ???

Its alot of work, and alot of damage to the wallet
Its only about 4-4.5K to bring something from the states over, surely you woudnt pay 3500 for that over there ???
Jump on evilbay USA and checkout what stuff goes for over there , then add the 4 odd grand to bring em in
Youll be surprised how cheap some stuff is over there

i think it would be easier to say that it would be much cheaper to buy one that is 100% and on the road.

for example

from this.....and i just may buy this one myself

http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/privat...=1&__N=1216 1246 1247 1252 1282 4294966398 4294963970&silo=1011

to this....

damn, i like that one to...i shouldnt of looked....shit

but at the end of the day, you will be ahead in both money and lack of stress. that is a 100k+ restore there if done properly. dont spend 7500 on a rusty dodge cause its cheap and it would be cool. you will have a coronary, literally, if you bought it, when it arrives...dont be dumb. be smart

Nether links worked for me, and its not a Dodge. I personally think Cuda's look alot better than Challenger's, I dont like their taillights or rear windscreens.

Was only asking anyway, no intention of buying it, never looked into importing and I wont be buying another project for a few years, my current car is frustrating enough to work on, I'll wait til all the bad memories are gone to build another. And that's another thing, I don't like buying other people's toys, and I dont get other people to work on my car's either unless I'm stuck, and it'll only be mates with more experience than me, no garages.

But if I did buy someone else's toy, it'd be this

Does anyone know much about engineers reports and mod plates and stuff?

The driveline that I'm putting in the Hq (308/t400/10 bolt) was all a factory option in 1974. So if you had the $$$ and ticked the right boxes you could have optioned my car to come out with that driveline. So does this mean I won't need a mod plate? I was under the impression that you only needed one if you were doing a "non factory" mod. And whats involved with getting the rego changed. Do you just walk in and say yeah it's a v8 now and they will change it. I've contemplated just keeping it regoed as a six cyl. But I'm sure I'd get raped with no lube if caught.

10 internetz for whoever provides useful answers.

from the P plater threads i gathered that if your car had that engine as an option you were allowed to swap it in with no mod plate required, so long as the brakes from that model were also installed as well. figure you've already done brakes, or holden wouldn't be assed upgrading them on the faster models, so you're good to go?
not sure on the rego thing though!

74QEE
Post #1885

Haha you are correct. All brakes across the Hq range were the same.well except some models came with drums all round.fortunately mine is a disc brake front end. And I bought a new booster, master cylinder and new discs, pads and rebuilt the rear drums 2 years ago. The car has only done about 10 000km since then so I'm sure my brakes can handle the 50 or so extra hp that I'm getting with this new motor lol. The only difference I know about is stiffer springs to handle the extra weight of the v8.

sounds like you're good to go, hate dealing with queensland transport so best of luck with the rego lol
