Thats a clean looker
The inlaws , brother had a hemi with a Q jet years ago, went quite well
Used to always tell me of standing on the pedal at 90Ks and smokin the rears
(Maybe they were all smoking in the back , i dunno)

Why not go a 500 CFM 2 barrell, would be a cheaper set up

.
Id prefer smoother power delivery of a 4 barrel with vacuum secondaries, than a big 2 barrel. Better economy too. And i reaallllly want the four barrel manifold.
Settled on the colour scheme tonight after a trip down to Munchies, looking at a few cars. Will be a blue similar to Deep Aqua or Turismo, the VZ Monaro colour. WIll have a black bonnet in a similar scheme to either a 770 charger or XA GT falcon.
Actually you know what?
She wants it done by christmas. Im gonna start a build thread on it.

Dude i spent from 8am til 5pm solid working on it, except for a couple of 10 minute breaks for a coke and quickly reheated leftovers haha... i can barely lift my arms and my back is killing meeee.....
On the plus side, it now drives SO much better. Pretty happy with it. Bidding on a reco 465 at the moment.

I really like working on other peoples cars. You get the fun without the expenditure haha... Thats why im really enjoying doing this valiant for eliza. Its not costing me anything and i still get to build a cool car, have fun doing it, and share the finished product.
Conveniently, she is really into it so helps a lot too. Gets her hands dirty.

Break for coke ???
Oh the beverage , thats what ya mean ,hey ???

After about 10 am , its beer o clock on any working on car day, help with the motivation, IF it doesnt help with the aches and pains, especially on the funny angles we come to endure, swap the beer for the harder stuff, scotch or bourbon

Had to put another diesel engine in another project, 1 bottle of scotch done the trick
Noone turns up to help, fuk it i drink it meself
Just take another bottle to get it all hooked up and running
Or is that an hour or two to get running , then rest of day to finish the bottle

ALSO.... Just stumbled across this -
CLICK for WIN
So, the engine in the missus Valiant has an engine code of D344. And, it is the original engine for the vehicle from factory.
THis means that when the car was bought, the owner optioned up to the 265 (D3) Premium Performance engine (first 4) with four speed manual (second 4).
Super good times! This is the engine used in Pacers, R/T chargers (NOT 6 packs) and 770's!!!!
Winning!!

shiiit i reckon that would drive maybe just a little bit better? Do you run a front swaybar? Is it a standard one?
I did all four new shocks and new front sway bar mount and link pin bushes in the valiant - HUGE difference. Crazy difference.

yeah i have a standard front sway bar about 18mm i think, looking at getting a 27mm one for the front and i have found a rear 22mm kit for the rear. So those future mods should help with ALOT of body roll

No didnt get down there. But spent the day getting the BMW finished at least, so sunday wasnt a complete write off. Hopefully sell it sound - i put it up in members ridfes if anyone is interested in having a glance. Its a 1985... haha
And Jeb my valiant has a 24mm swaybar fitted... seems pretty large for a stock swaybar! Might have come with the engine/gearbox combo? The val has bumper overriders too, which wasnt standard on the base model. Maybe just heaps of cheap dealer options were available at the time due to them finishing up the Valiant build.

NOS440
Post #1840

atleast something was accomplished then..
i have a sway bar somewhere in the shed i think. its from an old 78 cl v8 i had years ago. dunno what brand but its an aftermarket one. i'll get my measuring prong things and find out what size it is. it may be bigger?

lil_bobby_260

If it is, let me know!
BMW for sale soon. More $$$ for the real cars.

Boats tend to sway a bit, most likely why they had thicker sway bars from factory tongue.gif and obviously there is performance models, optional extras ect.

Haha very funny... you know Chrylser were running 300hp six cyls when holden were running 135hp, right...? haha...
But yeah i dont think a CM Val had 24mm swaybars as standard... pretty beefy for a 6cyl. THery were actually a fairly lightweight 6 cyl too.

little update.....

had the car for 9 days now:

popped it up on stands:

unhooked the brakes:

they are pretty cool, 4 spot calipers in '67

zipped out the interior:

floors a re pretty good for a nearly 45 year old car!!

pulled off the worlds sexiest exhaust... pick up new exhaust bits next week, 2.5 inch x-pipe system mandrel bends TIG welded (by me!!)

pulled motor and box out yesterday:

have a guy looking at getting all my brake parts for me and bringing in a cowl induction hood. if it is at a reasonable cast I will do it, if not, I will grab that glass scoop off you Ben!!

also, bought a brand new edelbrock manifold and MSD Streetfire HEI dizzy today. should have brake parts by the end of next week and hopefully will have repaired the MASSIVE crack in the floor from where the torque tube that runs from diff to underbody has tried to rip the car in half after many years of abuse I would say.

is a freaken cool car, will be a nice streeter when finished.

peace out.

Ash.

There were plenty of dealer options way back
Povo packs could be ordered with anything
Ford even had povo pack XCs with 351s, for the cops

My dirty ol XC has factory rear sway bar, factory on GS

Not sure who you could contact to find out the build sheet and options on vals
Ive got the build sheet for the XC, tells me every option that it came with

I don't have a build sheet (actually haven't rummaged through the glovebox...) but yeah as I posted earlier that I looked up the engine code and option codes off the build plate, and found that it was factory optioned with an r/t premium performance 265 and four speed, and that's it. Maybe the swaybar and bumper overriders were just dealer options.

Car runs and drives, no oil leaks from motor, needs a rear seal on the box but all gears seem to be functional

The throwout bearing is dusted I think, makes a pretty hairy noise when you push the pedal. Should be a nice cruiser when finished though.

Sometimes the build sheet will be taped to the car somewhere
Common on the X series falcons is the dash frame behind the glovebox
Thats where i found mine taped with gaf tape
It told me every option from factory it came with, even what radio option
You could look there
Could be in behind the rear seat have heard of there to
Us ford lads , contact 13FORD, give all details from the ID plate and they send out a full print of the options as well
Not sure who you could contact for a chrysler nowadays

The dealer options, spose youd have to contact the dealer, pritty hard for a chrysler

In the eyes of pre-85, is this worth what he's asking or nope? Taking into consideration what it is, most replacement panels, and motor running with compliance... http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Plymouth-Barrac...=item3a6b07adde

What a comlete chunk of crap!!

But a really cool car when done. I think if you have the skill, go for it. If not, leave it cos it would be a massive undertaking.

Personally, cool car for a mopar dude who will give it the care it needs, you could probs bring one in that needs less work for a better price.
