So since Having the old Val put into my name, i have been on the lookout 24/7 for anything pre 80s Australian, an there seems to be a ****load of old E/H series Holdens getting around, few old fords and fuck all Valiants. Im a HUGE Mopar fan myself, but whats your flavor? what have you got hiding in the shed? And if you could afford something, or even find one worth saving, what would it be, Charger? Monaro? GTHO falcon? I dont care if you think my thread is gay, as im super keen to see what boosts tastes are for old school Aussie classics. Fire away. Edit: Post a pic of your car if it fits topic description! This post has been edited by VL87DB: Sep 25 2011, 01:13 AM -------------------- Current ride

Fan of all 3 Own a few blue ovals, pre 80s Id make room for a Nissan Z car, wether some think theyre gay or not Haha with your name, does it also exclude old Holdens? I think everyone loves the old Datsun 240/260Z's, it's just a pity they have gone up in price now they have a cult following, kinda like the old AE86 Corollas. I remember when you couldn't give one away. |

Back in the day u couldn't give away most the old vals as well, now allot are chasing 10k plus for not really that much. There still giving away allot of holden crap though.. Back in the day !!! Anything and everything that was 5 -10 years old, unless a collector car , were cheap as shit It wasnt just vals that were neglected, they coped it more than the others , mainly due to less demand than the other brands Early parts and prices of the big 3 , can still be from free to outta this world There are still in this day and age early holden, ford and val gear getting scrapped daily |

Its sucks that taking shit to the scrappers is so bloody easy, though they did a fantastic job of getting rid of 2 of my VLs lol. |

Sad as it is, theres people who really couldnt give a shit Old car old hassles, ya know I threw out some HR gear awhile ago , advertised for ages and ages, but at $100 for bonnet, front guards, grill, bumpers, headlight surrounds, ect i thought that was reasonable for the bits, considering the bonnet was near immaculate But got sick of getting dicked around and shit offers, so of they went towards the next prius Scrap steel went as high as $500 a tonne in some states a few years ago So that half rusty EH,HQ,XA that uncle bob had in the yard was worth more in scrap that a few hundred to someone for bits or even a project People were driving their clunkers straight into sims, rippin the plates of and getting a tho or more for something that wasnt worth $100 To see what the late model crap is worth, to the untrained or "Dont care"person , that makes the older car worth less Then less oldish cars, parts prices rise, then whats left starts to rise The cycle begins |

Thats quite true because of the price of old Ford/Valiant crap compared to Holden shit. Dad and i went down to Tamworth not so long ago and there are yards and yards of E and H series Holdens just waiting to be saved. Its much the same in places like Kingaroy (we had a search around last year) ect. |

Its much the same in places like Kingaroy (we had a search around last year) ect. I must of been like 10 the last time Dad and i came across a yard-full of X series fords. All that's left are in garages with fortunes priced on them. You will also find some of the serious Mopar fanatics have a yard full of Vals these days but that's almost as far as you go. And most are beyond saving. There was a big ol skool wrecker in kingaroy about 8 ish years ago The owner died and the kids wanted the land, to them it was old cars worth nothin So there was a $50 price tag put on any car,and threw word of mouth people turned up People were buying rows and rows of FX/FJ holdens, yeah rows and rows of them People were buying rows of zephrs and chevs, mainlines, customlines Some cars even still had their "Q"plate still attached Buying chrysler by chrysler 4 doors without motors for $50 was a shame Anywho, then sims were bought in to clean out the rest By the time the new owners (ala the kids) realised what they had done the best were snapped up , and what wasnt the best was crushed then there was a property around the woodford/daguilar area a coupla years ago Heaps and heaps of old stuff, the property was in the family 100 odd years, so there were lots Sims were contacted, and not one was on site crushed, all left on low loaders There is a large collection of vintage cars not 1/2 hour from kingaroy That noone has showed any interest in for many years, guess where their heading ??? Prius panels Im working a deal with the owner to save some |

Yeh i can imagine the Kingaroy area to be loaded, the guy my old man got his VK Charger an VC Wayferer off had a yard of about 20-30 vals, after we picked though it there was only one other car (VC 5.2L) worth saving. Rest had been picked apart or fucked hardcore by ye ol rust. |
