I think the Nova is going to be quicker. I love BB's and blowers (even though its not a roots), but if you want to go fast and make big power turbo's are where its at in todays world.

Cue debate about blower vs. turbo........GO!

-Oh Jordan, procharger looks sweet! thumbsup.gif
You seriously have wayyyy to much money. I seriously can't wait till i'm qualified. 2 years. sad.gif

Yep! Already good to go for nitrous.

And I wish I did, haha, still alot of stuff to go unfortunately.

I'll be keen to see how they pair off too - on paper I should have more, Anchor said he was aiming for 600 - I've been told I'm sitting on 500/600 currently, charger should bump it up a bit - capable of going well over 1000. But who knows... that nova is set up damn nice!

Wut i have been taught different when i was younger. I believe i was told that super chargers are instant power from the word go (more torque) and turbos kicked in when it gets to a certain range limit. But from what i read there its the other way around, turbos re nearly instant power and charges kick in on a certain RPM. Mind is full of fuck

Like i said. Jordan will most probably win. Big block, supercharger, auto, and he's setting it up for straight line. That won't change the fact its going to be fun though heh

What !!!
There both a pump that force more air into an engine, arent they ???

Turbos spool from revs, more revs more spool and run of exhaust
Superchargers are crank driven, more revs yeah more PSI

With the engine sizes these days it negates turbo lag pretty much.

But all comes down to useable horsepower ... so who's ass looks cutier ? blink.gif

Went to munchies last night, a few months ago i saw one lonely skyline sitting out the back. Now there are bogan teenagers in standard lancers hanging out there. Even though the commodores have nearly taken over, at least they still sound nice (some of them). Its sad to see the old school guys leaving so early these days.

But on another topic, im going to sound like a complete dick. My choke has.. choked. And will refuse to open without help, causing the engine to run rich and blow some sick smoke. The engine starts first time every time, and idles and runs well. i've been told to get a carburetta gasket kit, would this work? Any ideas?

Is there a nice sounding commonwhore ???
Only sound i here is when they get a hiding from a FORD 6
The other issue ,
Ya choke doesnt release ???
Check the CABLE
maybe its stuck a tad !!!
Or maybe its BROKEN

wbtonner
Post #1636

You have to help open the choke by using the cable, unless its an electric choke.

If its not that tongue.gif, try the connection of the cable to the carby, that might be broken or whatever. If its just stubburn, good old wd40 won't go astray helping to free it up. If its the cable itself, just get a new one. I'd imagine it would be cheap to get an aftermarket cable.

rip it out.

Went to QR today to watch a mate race his track car, unfortunately that didn't go so well but I did get to see these beauties.

Seems the HDT club where out racing in one of the sessions, there was a pair of VE Maloos, two HSV GTS Coupes, a new HDT VE/VH and a few others but the VH Brock and VL Aero Bathurst gave me instant lumber of the jocks

Really !!!

Why is that ???

Ya know we still have , winter, autumn, spring
Theres 3 good reasons to keep the choke in the car !!!

Monaro454
Post #1641

this would be the first car I have ever had that has had a useable choke...... nothing but trouble.

start yer car, warm it up and drive it. why do you need to shove more fuel in your car in brisbane? out in the sticks where the night are cool er I can understand, but not where I live.

nightcrawler
Post #1642

Ha none of my land barges have a choke , still driveable even with ice on them . choke = carby restriction

DeadSled
Post #1643

I would have to agree. I removed my choke cable a while ago as i never use it, have not yet removed from the carby but when i rebuild my old one i will not put the choke back in. Definitely not required i don't think, i never even used it on a cold winters morning.

On another note, how many of you run oil pressure gauges?

I took my Kingswood for a drive around the block last week and the standard plastic oil line decided it did not want to be friends anymore and split, spitting warm oil all over my feet. I was at a loss as to what i should do, because i didn't want to buy yet another kit just for the crush tube piece (which i've done once before after we fucked the first one..) until Phil (Racerphil) told me about the copper lines you can buy. I bought one today from autobarn at slacks creek and after about 15 minutes to install it all, it seems like a flawless idea.

So, in conclusion my advice to anyone that does run a oil pressure gauge.. get one of these copper line kits. They retail at $19.99 and will likely never fail. Although there is two kits, both the same price.. one is a short and one is a long line. Get the short one, it has the piece that goes into the fitting already soldered on and will definitely be long enough. I think i have about 10 loops under the dash after i unrolled a bit of it to go into the engine bay, if you unrolled it it'd probably be as long as a yank tank.

So thats my piece of advice for today for anyone who didn't know of these, as i certainly had no idea they existed!

clutch-monkey
Post #1644

got a pretty decent oil pressure gauge as standard, no idea what lines though.. usually pretty fail safe in these cars.

interesting about the choke, mini is the first carby car i own and was wondering whether to put it in or not

This actually sounds pretty good - I managed to rip my old one out putting my headers in and then overtighten the second one causing it to split. Off to Autobarn I go!

As for the carby - both of my cars have chokes but I've never used them. The new carb for the Camaro won't have one though happy.gif
