Engine: 4G54 - 2.6L Astron II

Exhaust: Pajero manifold, modified dump to straight 3" ending just past the driver's seat

Suspension: Monroe shocks, King springs on the front

Wheels: Mix of factory 14" Sigma alloys and light(er)weight 14" Alfa Romeo alloys

Modifications: slightly oversized bores, rings, bearings, flycut pistons for exhaust valve clearance, later model injected Magna roller bearing head (machined to bump up compression), Ivan Tighe custom cams, some bitsa carby with drilled out jets and modified float, machined flywheel, new OEM clutch, rebuilt starter, electric in-tank fuel pump, enlarged sump, cut and shut crossmember for sump clearance, fixed back bucket seats, monster tacho with shift light (cause I was 16 and wanted that cool shit), oil pressure, water temp and volt gauges, probably other stuff I can't remember.

Stereo Audio / Visual: Painted on headlights, pinstripes (first shell, the second shell wasn't made to look pretty), two tone orange and blue as per my sponsors colours

Estimated Power: 138hp atw

Hey guys,

Seen the XF Speedway car posted up before me so I thought I would throw up my old dirt track hack from when I was 16 / 17. She is long gone now but it was some good fun. The smashed up pics are from a title night a few years back, Speedway boys play a bit rough sometimes. Built it up with the step-dad, so can't remember a lot of details about it.

    Nice. We used to race these about 10-12 years ago when they were first introduced. Ready to race Sigma was about $350 or something.
    Looks like they have come a long way since then. Ours used to have a bolt on half cage - so sketchy! Also have the rules changed about being able to modify the engine? Weren't allowed to 'touch' ours and if someone thought we had a quicker car was allowed to buy if off of you for the bought price.

    Haha yeah they were still pretty sketchy when I was racing them, half the field were running the cages that sat on the window sills. Thy changed the rules to allow rebuilds as the astrons were eating pretty hard to come across I think. Awesome fun though biggrin.gif

    Yeah the two wheels was a good night, did that right in front of the family and girlfriend at the time. Snapped off a sender for the oil gauge on the landing and lost most of the oil over the next couple of laps. Manisealed the hole, topped her up and went back out to win the feature haha. Rebuilt the bottom end the next weekend, bearing were fucked haha.

    my mate used to race in the sigma cup with his brother, went out a few times to watch, great racing and plenty of carnage,

    both of them have moved up in to v8 dirt mods, but you can really tell the difference from the drivers who start at the bottom and move up, compared to the drivers who have the piggy bank and jump in the deep end.

    good cheap racing is what keeps the sport alive

    Congrats on turning a dump into a pearl but you smashed it up again LOL . If you had of coated the paint in a tub of armoral it would still look new

    My sister-in-law and her family race speedway down in Lismore... 14 year old nephew was racing a sigma in the jnrs and then in 4-cylinder class... he has since moved up to the stockers, and now looking at v8 modified... Long live TGR....
