Mechanical gauge just needs to get vacuum and boost. Don't T off other vacuum lines, get the vacuum source off the throttle body. It may have other wires, for that you will just need a positive and ground connection, and also possibly the positive wire/accessory off your headunit that turns on when the car turns on. |

Being a diesel it will never read vacuum so when you go to buy your guage get one that only reads positive pressure. There will be a boost sensor somewhere, just "t" into that particular line and wire it up for illumination etc. |

thanks zpkpk, the problem though i've read is that a diesel doesn't have a throttle body hence there being no vacuum so should i go to one of the lines running from my manifold? You will see only boost no vacuum. I have my boost gauge going off the inlet manifold with out dramas. 2003 Ford Courier turbo diesel. |

hey mate a put a boost guage in two of my mates rangers, both where supercheap auto guages, possitive, negative and boost line, theres two ways to go about it, one of the rangers i found a metal pipe the same diameter as the rubber pipe just before it goes into youe engine, and about 4cm across, welded a t peice into that, and just cut the rubber pip and hose clamped it over, hooked up + and - and thats it, second time i stuffed around trying to find the correst boostline on the turbo side, up the top right corner theres like 5 hoses , get a t peice and try wiht each one till the boost shows smoothy, instead of going up and down on the guage while your reving steady i too am trying to hook a boost gauge in my 2008 ranger i have tried all 5 of those lines on the right got 2 different vacum readings(depending on what line) but no boost and the metal line you taped into i think is 1 of those 5 lines. do you remember witch line you taped into a photo would be good or if anyone else can help... |
