Makes you look like a tool. It's illegal and iirc it can void your insurance (not 100% sure about that part though) |

It's not illegal; You need to make sure it's visible from 200m at night, You need to make sure it's visible from 20m in direct sunlight, You need to use bulbs of maximum power 7W. Attached are some tinted tail light photos, I think they are the final touch on an already mint car, but stock cars with tinted lights are not cool. Each to their own! Unless they came that way from factory, as mine did. That said, only the clear section is tinted, not the brake light. |

its not illegal to tint taillights, provided that they can still be seen clearly from a certain distance, which i think is 20m. old arguement is old, xxxxgold commented on this in the general forum a few months ago when it last came up. i'm in agreement that it is stupid though. 20m? you have got to be kidding... your traveling at 100km/h and a car with tinted lights is broken down and all you get is 20m notice that they are stoped? hardly. iv read a couple of threads on some other forum where people have been run into from behind and had to pay out the person who ran up the back of them due to no ADR tail lights.. it would be the same deal |

Relevant info: QUOTE (Transport Ops: Vehicle Standards and Safety Regulation (Schedule 1, Section 71)) Performance of tail-lights (1) When on, a tail-light of a vehicle must - a) show a red light visible 200m from the rear of the vehicle; and b) not use over 7W. QUOTE (Transport Ops: Vehicle Standards and Safety Regulation (Schedule 1, Section 83)) Performance and operation of brake lights (1) When on, a brake light must show a red light visible 30m from the rear of the vehicle. QUOTE (Transport Ops: Vehicle Standards and Safety Regulation (Schedule 1, Section 88)) Operation and visibility of direction indicator lights
(5) When on, a direction indicator light must be visible 30m from - a) if the light faces forwards - the front of the vehicle; or b) if the light faces backwards - the rear of the vehicle; or c) if the light faces out from the side of the vehicle - that side of the vehicle. |

I suggest you look not just into the visibility of a light of any kind from a said '30m distance' but perhaps the legality of painting over a signaling light...... May also shed some more relevant info on the topic. |

I just scooted thru the TO(RUM) and couldnt see anything other then what was list above. At the end of the day... it looks shit unless its a standard feature IMO. |
