They work by the expansion of air inside the cooler.

So it goes in hot and under pressure > goes through the cooler and expands (and cools down because it expands) > and then into the cold side of the intercooler leading to the intake.

that is totally wrong because the only thing that expands as it gets colder is water when it turns to ice but everything else shrinks when cooled and expands when hot.

if i was trying to pretend i am an expert i would have got my facts right first. :oopsie:

as for a fmic on a n/a car it is a bit of a waste, however the colder you can make the air going into your engine the better it will go if it is tuned properly.

The added benefit from having the air colder from having the FMIC on an NA car is totally fucking wiped out from the loss in throttle response from the bullshit long air intake.

Yea do some research before you go mouthing off about it. These "fake intercoolers" do work, i have one on daily.

It all depends how you do it as to if its successful or not. Front mounting it wont work, period. Mine is top mounted (daihatsu charade 3cyl). How i have done mine is i have mounted 3 small throttle bodies on the side wall of the cooler with the filter mounter on the other side, its all sitting flush with a wrx bonnet scoop. This has a few advantages, i can get more air into the motor (2 more throttle bodies), because its mounted higher i have mad a custom inlet manifold with longer runners i get more top end power and smoother delivery, the inlet air temperature is around 9 degrees cooler. It has given me 15 extra front wheel kilowatts.

Mind you it wasn't cheap or easy, took me around 6 months to build and had a lot of trial and error. In the end i think it cost 4k all up.

Thats why you shorten the intake whilst adding smaller diameter throttle bodies yet more of them to retain or increase overall volume.

NAh bro my mates cousins uncles sisters boyfriend swear by intercoolers, he reckons that you can get up to 60Hp extra with the use of an intercooler and a Hiclone installed between the pod and the intercooler on non turbo carz.
I trust the bloke hes a 1st year apprentice but his bloody good at tafe and all that and jimbo down at jimmys gargage reckons his the best apprentice since the guy who passed highschool who worked for him, so you know his a genuine bloke mate!

60 hp more mate no offence but FAIL !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! puting a bigger intercooler on a turbo car wont even give it as much as 60 hp u twat.....
:headwall: u think about it how much more time does it take for normal airflow to get through an intercooler with out a turbo on it then u put a turbo on a bigger intercooler and some times u get a bit of lag cause it takes longer to get through the intercooler

no joke your a D!*K

Also an intercooler have a max efficiency sort of thing, they cannot cool less than 10deg above the air flowing over it.

eg ambient air is 10degC the air in it will never get below 20degC

Mine feels freaken cold after a drive home down the freeway, so also have to factor wind chill into that as well. mine cools that well my cooler pipes in the engine bay are cool to 4touch and the intake manifold is also not boiling hot like it used to be!

I have seen a CAI on a VR V6 condensate on a cool night.
