I can imagine this thread has been made countless times, but I'll make it again anyway.
I couldnt find what I was looking for with the search button but here goes.

I am not looking for cars for sale just ideas as I always run into dead ends just searching myself.

I am on my p plates, not looking for anything with super awesome pwnage power or a big ricer,
just something easy to find pretty close to stock that is fun and sporty.

I want it to be under 15 years old (just like my women jks haha) and not a mazda mx5. (Already had one)

I would like rear wheel drive so I can learn to drive properly, I had never experienced oversteer until one irritating morning where my mx5 ended up hitting a pole. So it would be good to learn that kind of thing so it doesnt happen again.
But its not a must.

I'm sure everybody knows which car is best and now lets hear it.

Oh and as the title says, must be known to be reliable.

MKII rs200, Flared guards, cage, pinto 2.3 f/inj manual, 5 speed. I had 15 x 245's on the rear and had no dramas laying shit out!

That was my first, i would do anything to have it back. THAT was a car!

So you put a MX5 into a power pole and you want something else? MX5 is probably the most sporty car of that era. It's nearly impossible to crash an MX5 lol.

10 won't get you very far. There aren't many, if any decent rwd sports cars under 15 years old for less than $10,000

If you weren't on a strict budget I was going to say S2000, but you know.

Honda Integra, sporty enough and you can get oversteer if you try hard enough, although you will probably end up in another pole.

MR2? An SW20 non turbo could be had for 10k in reasonable shape, they're about 15 years old, looks hot, handles well, etc.

Though if you can't handle oversteer, don't even wanna think about snap oversteer.

an Autech S15 is would be my first choice but Im biased as I own a S15. Such great cars.

Then something like a MX5

or if you want to stretch a Honda S2000


If you are a bit tight then a Honda Integra DC5 would be my pick, beautiful looking cars and fun to drive with everything you need for a daily driver.


While not a sports car as P plater if you want something cool then get a S Ute or XR6 UTE in black and put some nice 20" and lower it. Not really sporty or all that practical if you want to carry people around but a fucking cool P plater car.

I think mr2's and 300zx's are in my mind at the moment but I dont know how reliable either is?
Or how relatively expensive or cheap to maintain?
Anybody had experience with these?

It was snap oversteer too. Just turning then omgwtf I'm sideways, turn other way bam.
So sad, it was such a nice car and I hardly pushed it at all.

MR2s have the 3SGE, which is a fairly solid engine. Might need the odd bit of maintenance, but they usually go forever. 90s Toyota reliability FTW.
300ZX will be the VG30DE. I know the turbo versions used to have overheating issues, but I'd imagine the non turbo wouldn't be so bad.

Snap oversteer is something you get from mid engined cars. The same characteristics that make them handle well also make them tricky on the limit. The model update included suspension changes to soften this. Call me stupid, but I like the idea of a car that tries to kill you if you're not driving it properly.

Having worked on both I have to say I much prefer to work on the 300.

The vg30de/t like any car only has cooling issues with lack of maintenance.

Look after a 300zx and they are an extremely reliable car.

Yep.
I like sports cars.
Sucks when the only reason I crashed was inexperience.
If I learn how to control oversteer which I will soon when I get the right car, I will be able to predict it so it wont happen again.
I love cars, cant get enough of them and writing off a good mx5 is the shittiest way to start a car history.
I dont drift around and happen to crash once, it was the first time and by accident (Unintentional oversteer).

I also like r32 skylines, (Non modded with no spoiler smile.gif).

Does anybody have any ideas about fuel efficiency between the three?

So far my list is:
r32 skyline
93 or newer mr2 (shorter gear lever and slightly revised everything including one piece spoiler so I can take it off if i please)
I am unsure of what year 300zx obviously the newer looking ones any help here(revisions, year specific faults anything)?

My two quirky car things is I love a tiny gear lever (to match my penis smile.gif) and a low driving position is a high priority.
Both not a necessity though for the right ride.

Wouldn't bother with an N/A r32. They're rare and a slug, and you'll have trouble finding one that hasn't been modded retardedly/thrashed.
