Post #1 post 16th October 2010 - 05:50 PM
ok so as a p plater i dont really have much of a choice in making my car more powerfull, and with 2 and a half years left on my p's i wont be for a while.

so i have been looking into better air/zorst flow for my sr, and have found these

http://www.efihardware.com/products/687/SR...et-tbore-525048

i allready have some hks 4-2-1 extractors but want to go even further with my sr20de

so has anybody had any experience with this sort of thing and how much of a difference does it make with response, power ect

cheers, milan.

They will lose power(but makes heaps of cool noise) unless your have more than 12:1 compression, big cams and a REALLY good tune.

PS: Dont waste your money on the EFI Hardware ones, the Tomei ones are a direct bolt on and are much better value(plus stock injectors in the fuel rail, TPS works correctly, etc)

so spending this sort of money on a non turbs sr is a waste?

You wont make power that is huge, you will make the car fun to drive, and rev to all buggery, but just don't expect that push in the seat effect that a hi torque motor will give.

You could set an s14 up in na form to be a weapon on a mountain.

My AE86 was able to sit up the ass of Mcleods WRX with just 62 rwkw from a 4age.

Stop thinking power and think throttle response.

Do it. Be different.

Fuck yeah, do it

Do it purely for the wow factor and the fact it will make it rev easier.

yea i always knew non turb sr's will never make much power, just wondering if the throttle bodys WIll give the extra response and to rev higher than 7k.

i looked up the tomei ones and they are only for the non nvcs sr20 and they are like 2.5k compared to then efi witch is 1400 obviously ill need a am ecu injectors ect but will this all be worth it?

i was talking to the guy at archy with the na ca auto sil and he told me about these, he was saying hes making a invincable sr and was geting these itb's for it and recomended it to me.

oh and i have never drifted before, thursday coming up im going to have my first crack at it on archy with the standard sr na. got a bad feeling about it but i really want to start drifting lol,

Tomei kit can work with a stock retuned ECU in Alpha~N mode and they can be supplied to suit the NVCS S14/15 motors smile.gif

Work out the price of a aftermarket ECU, TPS, injectors etc and decide which option is cheaper(PS: dont pay fucking retail for the Tomei's wink.gif)

The stock cams wont make power over 6800rpm anyway so what point is there strangling its neck just so you can rev to 10Krpm?

Spend the money on seat time.
ITB's will sound cool but won't make you drive better.

Cams, injectors, ecu retune is all that is needed to set this up? Still p plate legal and emissions etc???

No, but chances of getting caught are slim.

Cops would have to be keen..

errr.... cops tend to notice ITB's. 4 big fat filter socks on the end of the trumpets = defect city. Especially if they are anodised blue.

Popo are always asking my mrs to pop the hood.. Its cop burley. They think its turboed.
So im guessing a traffic cop would notice.. Shame would be a mean setup! tongue.gif

^^ Exactly. Having ITBs doesn't mean you need to have separate filters and no airbox. Once you're at WOT they are essentially just an intake runner, so there's nothing stopping you running a standard looking plenum fed through a single filter box. If properly designed you'd also get some power gains over straight trumpets from intake tuning.

Most motorcycles I've seen run this setup, as they've had ITBs standard for years. Generally speaking increasing the airbox volume will also give you a top end power boost (at the expense of some low end)

I looked into this when I had my s15. I was going to buy a set of tomei ITB's.

You need an aftermarket ECU to run ITB's as well as the aforementioned changes. You won't get away with it.

You seem to be forgetting the massive midrange that comes with itbs.
Bolton itb's with a tune (stock internals) on a b18c made an average of from 10-20kw in the midrange, lost 2kw at highend.
