I still think the single headlight front is the best looking.

I like the tradesman front.... Haha not quite.
ASH - got that engine running (WITH a radiator now...) Runs smooth enough. Will compression test it shortly, just to see how shes going, and do a full service on it. Very happy (so far) so thanks for that mate.
Got the call from my uncle today at repco so cruised in and picked up my pistons, rings, and a full set of bearings, gaskets and seals for the 351... nice. Just gotta drop in the cam bearings and pistons so they can do the trickier stuff before i get it back and start with assembling it.
On a high about getting this VT up and running :-)

Statesman fronts look good on Statesmans where they belong, and I MAY be buying a HQ stato which is pretty much perfect except for a ding on the very front point of the nosecone. Hence the question.

oh, and Nick, I agree that single headlight fronts look best on the HQs, but HJs like yours (and mine) look awesome with a Prem front...especially if it is a Prem - like mine! Still agree that Statesman front should stay where they belong though!

I totally agree mate - it doesn't belong there! Like I said, they look good on Statesmans, not Kingas or GTSs etc.

Dropped the car off back to MotaCarb to get retuned, was running rough as guts with the new pump installed.

Who else is going?
Debating whether to take the ute or not, if I go, big drive, and I don't exactly want to spend 100 in fuel for one day :D

I'll come down Damo.

WB - If you want to drive down to BP Coomera, I'll pick you up from there and run you down and back in my ute if you like. Will be leaving early though, around 4am or so.

How the hell did it get to friday already?!

I went out to gatton the past few days, saw some very nice cars. An EK, WB, heaps of HR's. Also was driving past an old house and there were some awesome American cars out the front. Will post up photos soon. Maybe tomorrow, driving home from gatton in this shitfull weather was very tiring.

Geez you're having a bad run of luck!

Although headgaskets arent necessarily a bad thing - gives you an excuse to send the heads off for a little bit of work!

Heads are worked man.

Am leaning towards VN heads if these heads are rooted once removed.

$#@% %^$#% ^&%*&^ #$@%$%%@#$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Lol.

Thems the breaks.

If the heads do have a hole, I might even skip putting new heads on and just bite the bullet and drop the BB in there straight away.

Factoring in the cost of decent VN style heads, manifold etc it would be probably more worthwhile.

So finally found a Keto..
Put a deposit today and pick up next week!
Has a newly re-built engine, headwork, cam, exhaust already done!, clean interior, gear box is good, new clutch, breaks all re-done.. body is straight but paints a bit meh.. Oh and ready for this!? IT HAS RACING STRIPES! ahah
But nah was a really good buy, compared to the other ones i have seen.
Also have the choice between a set of meshies with ok tread, or jelly beans with brand new tread.
Im kind of leaning towards the jellybeans (Not a fan of meshies)

Oh and saw a pretty bad accident on the way there, two trucks, one tipped over on the grass in the middle of the road, and the other one was sideways covering one lane, and there was a car with the back end all smashed up. From what i can tell one truck hit the car swerved and hit the other truck off the road then swerved again the ended up sideways..
Didn't look like anyone was hurt, which is the main thing.

Yeah mate, ill chuck some pics up now.
And yeah ill paint it after the xc is done, paint look fine from a distance, and the racing stripes dont bother me that much ahah

Yeah thats it^

Not 100% sure on which rims? Those meshies? or a set of mint jelly beans with new thread...

Oh yeah, incase you couldnt tell from the pics, its flat front aswell! Which i was happy about, i think the flat front is alot nicer then then slant front

Its pre 85...
Its only a daily anyways, have the xc for the w,es... well once its finished..
On that note, got half the body in primer the other day, then it decided to rain for the last few days ahah

P.S- I think you may need to broaden your taste in cars (for lack of better words/terms), i mean yeah its no hot rod, classic or muscle car. But it is hardly an abortion? Yes the stripes are a bit stupid, but they will be going and other then that and the steering wheel its stock.
It may not be your type of car, but its purpose it to be a cheap daily so im not spending 80-90$ a week in petrol, plus wanted a manual car.

Cool lil 70 man. Needs some attention... just go white. Glacier white. Alpine white. Whatever. Just a nice, clean white. Keep the black around the window frams tho.
And go the meshies. Black centres, or even bronze, and polished lip. Should be able to do that by hand.

Yeah, Other then the paint, its great, well carpet and seats are a bit dirty but uno nothing major. Ran great, can feel the cam kick in at about 2 and a half grand.
Ill be leaving it as is for a while, should pass roadworthy, oh other then the 8ball gear nob (has no shift pattern and as far as i know you need that for rwc) and will give it a good tidy up. Then once the Xc is out of the way ill spray it up, yeah white looks nice and clean and easy to work with (painting wise) Other then that might drop it a bit. Has all new shock but standard springs so new springs wouldn't hurt anyways.

Is that not a tacho I spy.....???
If its got a cam, head work etc and exhaust, oh and that big tacho, its most likely been thrashed. (Just how I see it)
Should look alright for a daily I guess and fuel consumption should be alright.

And I don't know about the 80 - 90 a week in fuel if your talking about your XC, I'm guessing not. I used to go through 100-150 a week in my ute before the engine combo. I'd hate to think how much it'd use now  Must say, I drive alot more sensibley then I did then...well driving to work in a shitbox anyways...

Thought i'd ask here about opinions for a V8 for my opens. I will be pulling my ute (1980 WB tonner) off the road for a revamp ready for my opens and am just wondering people's opinions/thoughts and EXPERIENCE on the topic.
I'm leaning towards either a big block or a LS2 (then eventually turbo it) but i'm open to all opinions.

I realise I should probably have my ute off the road to have it ready in time, like 18 months but i've done a resto on the car before and if I know a V8 is going in I WILL (well should) be more inclined to finish it!!!

i only got a hk

Haha bought it off a 60 year old guy, was only just finished being built, but his into 4x4ing so selling this to fund that hobby.
It ran smooth, gears were fine, new clutch was great, and for the price i got i for and looking at what other are asking for them i got a good deal.
I mean look at the ones on here, 800-1500 for ones thats have no interior (stripped for the track), smacked and dented up, one is asking 800 and it has no interior, body is shit and has a 3 foot piece pipe welded to the exhaust ahha
And the 80-90 in fuel is in the AU, Xc is on gas, so should be reasonable to run... hopefully ahha
Fuck paying up to 150$ a week in petrol! thats insane!

EDIT- Just adding the tacho will be going ahha its too big and in your face ahah
