Jay (74QEE) showed me that HR coupe a while ago when it was on Ebay last, or perhaps another one of that guys cars. The guy apparently builds and sells coupes often.

IMO, the thing is so badly disproportionate, the door is way too long and the rear quarter window is too small. Looks ridiculous.

Been out and seen this thing in person a few times good guy for parts ect. Parts of it do look odd but good on him for trying something different well priced to. Doesnt just build coupes his got a pretty good wagon coming along but has to many cars!

His a retired coach builder doesnt do things in halves and normally gets shit finished

Edit-
I know there is a formal ride section, but there is shit all in it.
Im trying to help a friends little sister find a ride for her formal.
She wants something old school, she wants white, four door and RHD but as times running out she will consider anything.
Located on the Gold Coast, from biggera waters to Arundel golf club if i remember correctly (about 10 min drive) and time for photo with the car.
She will pay for fuel and your time. Just for her and her date.
Any help would be fantastic as its only 4 weeks away or so!
Pm me if you can help
Thanks guys

Hmm i got a big white Galaxie that should be done within 4 weeks haha...

I was thinking about your galaxie.. But wasnt sure if it would be done in time.
rekon you would do it if it is ready?

Yeah id totally do it, but you would need to have a backup car lined up just in case it isnt done!

Only show I was really keen on putting the car in as my mates club was running it, plus I could drop it off at 6 and pick it up at 3 seeing as I only live couple of k's down the road.

Looks soooooo much better without the lines running over the inner guard/fabbed covers.

Will put a pic up when I fit the new pump as its still on the hoist at mates shed.

But speaking of buying cars, why do ppl bother advertising them if when you arrange to have a look at it they fuck you around?

ha, tell me about it. Had a Charger lined up to buy, got the money ready and everything and the guy bailed on me. :headwall:

If you're REALLY stuck then let me know. My car is old / white / 4 door and RHD, but I wouldn't really call it show worthy. I'd definitely look at getting something else first.

Got a 37 Studebaker lined up now, its her dates best mates dads car, so i think they get the use of it for free.
Plus its white, 4 door and RHD. Plus the reverse rear doors will be great to get some cool photos.
As far as i know its all a go with this car but will be good to have a back up.
BTW she liked the moon caps the most on your car, not so much the 22's. Im the opposite, like the 22's but not so much the moon caps, But still this the normal hubcaps take the cake.

Mind is still set on the mg for now. I've got four months of hard saving, want something by the end of the year.

Just got back from gatton today, saw an XC out there, and a HR on the way back. Both were in ratty condition, but still on the road which was good to see :)

And no, im not too keen on that HR, It does look good however.

Hows the Gal going?

lil_bobby_260
Post #189

Gal isnt going lol... havent touched it for a few weeks. Well not since stripping down the motor anyway - im just waiting on the engine to come back from Auster Engines, as well as some info from them on what size pistons and rings i need, or whether i can just reuse my pistons with new rings if it didnt need to cop much of a bore job.
Ill give them a call tomorrow (meant to call them today) and see how its all tracking along.
Its gonna be a beautiful engine :-) powerful, torquey, and braaaand new... Gorgeous.

b.t.h
Post #190

The engine still there? You'll have to bring it down to munchies and show it off when it's done... Then take me for a cruise in it lol.

The injection of funds from the car sale helping? Whats there to do to the body, exhaust suspension ect.. ?

Dam i hate not having a real car.

lil_bobby_260
Post #191

Well ive got a grand deposit from the guy, with the rest to come on friday when he picks the car up. Im just prepping the engine bay for the motor, really, and trying to decide what to do gearbox wise. Tempted to just but one of the reco'd ones shops sell on ebay - $1100 for a reco'd and shift kitted box, with a reco'd standard stally, but they all have the option to lift the stall rating for a fee.
Been smoothing out the engine bay and trying to hide some wiring etc so its nice and neat and flash.
Body is done, suspension is a bit undecided at the moment - will probably settle for custom springs and a set of new shocks for now, and worry about other things further along.
Exhaust will be a twin 2 1/4 or 2 1/2, not sure yet. Has extractors. I want a tough note, rough and raspy, as opposed to just a loud drone, so im trying to keep the pipes narrow to increase flow speed in the exhaust to keep that sharp note.

So i just hooked up the fuel line to the new engine in the commodore and went 'sweet, time to start it'.
So it cranked up and ran fine, considering it hadnt been started in god knows how long (ash?). But silly me, got a bit too excited and ahead of myself - no radiator hooked up yet. Now on an older car this wouldnt be a problem, but the VT is the first car ive worked on that runs the tranny cooler lines through the radiator lol... so a MASSIVE jet of red fluid sprayed straight out the engine bay and ALL OVER my excel, which i washed, waxed and registered today, and all over the walls... place looked like a scene from a horror movie. What a mess.

I can't wait for friday. Day off and if the weather is good, i'll be taking the Prem out for a spin. Just had a internal reg alternator fitted, got sick of the old ext reg type letting the battery go flat after sitting for a few days. Sucks seeing her sit in the garage day after day not doing anything.

On a side note, does anybody know of anyone selling cheapish rear internal louvres for a HT/HG etc? $250 for a new one is outragous!!

76LX_FTW
Post #199

Fuck man you should be able too get them cheaper than that, i wouldnt pay anymore then 70-80 bux for a set. Ive got a mate who has like 5 sets but im in Nsw unfortunetly. Id just go too the wreckers ( worth i try ) or check out some local swap meets or somthing.

haha i didnt even think to take photos - i was too busy shitting my pants and rushing to turn the engine off then clean up the mess before it soaked into the walls too much! Just pushed the commo out backwards to clean the floor... what a mess. Got it all MOSTLY cleaned up but the concrete is now nice and dark and shiny... and slippery as hell.
Whats a good cleaner to get rid of that shit? its just smooth concrete. I just want to be able to throw something down on it, and hose it out. Suggestions?

Chlorine?

lol bobby... real smooth at the moment.

try hydrochloric acid, will sort that right out for you. make sure you have a high pressure water blaster thingy too, brush the acid into the surface and blast it off after a couple of minutes. should work.

anyways...

fridee night I take the old girl out for a spin. went to TPC at Lawnton for a look at some old cars and a mate came along.
Mate has an 2nd gen camaro with basically the same motor, 454+30, 580 thou lift cam, 10.?-1 comp, decent heads and big stalls... the only difference is that mine goes like stink and his sorta doesn't!! so I gave it a quick stab, as he hadn't been in it since I put on the big zorst... I was a bit upset cos it didn't smoke em (was doing 70 in top gear in a 70 zone) so I pulled for fuel. put fuel in and took off up the street... gave it the berries for a little bit and BANG!!!! clang, clang, clang.... I said wow, what the hell was that? mate said, "sounds like it is in the sump" and I went nah, sounds like the fan belt blew apart. rolled to a stop (outside TPC) and popped the bonnet, belt was fine, no holes in the block, checked the dizzy... cap is just perched on top instead of being clamped down.

remove 4 plug leads and lift up cap. clink, cling, tinkle.... look under the car and find a screw on the ground.... look inside the dizzy and find the rotor button (which is held in with 2 screws on MSD dizzy's) had worked 1 screw loose and smashed itself apart inside the cap!!

lucky I was where I was... 5 minutes later and it is running again!! after the meet-up, drive it home and it is going better than it was!

now I need a new rotor button and it smashed around in there so hard that the cap is paper thin in some parts and you can see light through it!

I LOVE Big Blocks!!!!!!!!!!

wbtonner
Post #203

The joys of a big block, "I gave it a quick stab" then had to pull into the servo for more fuel haha.
My car can't even spin them at 70 in the rain :bowrofl: unless I pull it back to second. 6's suck.

GTS454
Post #204

just quietly... it will do it at 90 and up too :bowrofl:

and it is probably better on fuel than your car!! I put fuel in every time I drive as I have run out like 4 times now from not keeping up with how much is in there!!

I really do love big blocks!! and Lakeside raceway being so close!!

Also try some kitty litter over the top and brush it in, use some degreaser if need be but I find degreaser sometimes leaves its own residue which is slippery as well.

Damn man, that was pretty lucky. Out of curiosity being paper thin would that potentially be able to short the spark outside the cap?
