Not if its sticking out of the bonnet no, you have no hope.

Low mount B&M or turbo setup would be the go.

Deadsled are you ever going to move out of your house? lol Is the ek back on the ground yet? whens the roof chop taking place? glad your gonna do that!

Hahaha Ben i'm only 21 and a half, don't need to move out just yet. Plus with uni and cars i can't afford to move out, and lets face it.. why would i want to live in some shitty townhouse or rental house with no where to work on cars, or stay at home where i have everything i need and build cars. Seems ideal to me.

I'll move out in due time, and i do have some big plans as i want to buy a block of land, wack an old removal home queenslander on it and a massive shed out back. All money, but i'd rather have the cars done first as their a bit cheaper than a block of land plus house and shed.

And no, EK's sills are finally finished but i have a few spots of rust in the wheel arches i have to fix before i can get it back on the ground, then the real fun begins.

Chopping the roof will be after its two doored.

Hey mate i got given a 173 and what i'm told is an all syncro 3spd manual box out of an LH Torana and will just hop that up with the finned aluminium rocker cover and finned twin single barrel stromberg manifold i have, as well as painting it gold and polishing all the manifold and stuff.

Its going to be fairly period correct 1961, although mind you California styled moreso than Aussie. So yes, most definitely a hopped up 6 banger.

I have a set of Triple SU's as well but they all need a complete rebuild and i just don't know if i'd want those on something i'd be driving all the time.

Put it this way, its going to be a custom so the slower it is the longer people see it on the road :D

Nick i moved out so i COULD work on cars... im on 5 acres now so no noise complaints, with 3 massive work sheds (owners are builders) and i even have concrete/steel ramps i can drive a car on and stand underneath it where they used to service their own vehicles. Place comes complete with a pool and a view of glasshouse mountains, and i even have a granny flat im trying to rent out if you like haha...
.
THE XE FAIRMONT HAS SOOOOOLD!!!!!
Bit sad to see it go, its been a good car and a cool cruiser, but ive got the VT as a daily now, and will allow some cash to go towards this Galaxie.
.
Did you get out to greazefest Nick?

About time that sold, how much did you get for it? hopefully it helps you out with your gal.

Sold for an undisclosed amount that i will send via PM haha..
Um im not sure how much... im in Bellmere. Its big enough for a couple, and comes with garage space.
Itd be $150 a week, and you get access to $1000's worth of kincrome tools and cranes haha...

Haha i've got many a tool here, as well as a few kinds of welders (MIG, TIG and Oxy) and all the gear i need to get my cars done.

I just have no reason to move out really.

Did not go to Greazefest. I couldn't of been bothered and my EK was not done so i didn't feel like going since i had nothing really to show off that suited the show.

Thats a bit too far away for me sorry lol.

Does anyone know of any moderately good toolkits for around $300? I need the usual spanners, screwdrivers ect.. Theres some big kits at autobarn for around 150-300 mark, however im not sure if they would be any good. Anything would be better then the $45 set my dad bought me last year for my shitbox daily. I'll need fairly tough tools that won't die after a year. Big ask for such a low price, but anyone had any 'good buys'?

Trade Tools had a big toolbox of all the metric and imperial sockets plus ratchet and extension bars, and also metric spanners up to around mid 20mm, and the imperial equivalent (good for old cars) for around 200ish.

That was a few months ago.

Fuck me, give me an old Aussie girl anyday of the week!

My 1991 Jackaroo has done a fuel pump. To replace it I have to pull the fucking fuel tank out, which is proving a fucking nightmare! If the fuel pump on the Torana shits itself it takes a few minutes to fix! And the fuel tank comes out in a few minutes too!

Fucking Japanese delivered shit! Gimme old school anyday!

In all seriousness wait till SuperCrap have a sale and go buy a bunch of Stanley tools. Lifetime Warranty on the lot of them, I picked up a good 40pce 1/2" socket set ranging both metric/imperial up to 32mm for $79 on one of their sales.

do yourself a favour, ditch the galaxie and play with this instead

lil_bobby_260
Post #169

Haha i wouldnt ditch the galaxie - but i WOULD sell my VT and use this as a daily driver...
It'd be bright yellow, stupidly low, on a set of stock wheels (widened rears) painted black, with dress rims and white walls... Black vinyl interior. No tint - Venetians. Fluffy dice for sure.

I would but I just bought a Jet ski, and I've already got 2 cars as it is.
Why yellow may I ask?

lil_bobby_260
Post #171

Im not too sure man, i just love yellow on cars. You can sit on the side of a busy road and see countless red, blue, black, white and silver cars. Next time you sit in traffic lights - see how many yellow cars you spot compared to other cars. I mean REALLY yellow. Not off-yellow like lancers and shit. Im talking suzuki yellow.
I dunno man, just love bright pearl yellow on old cars. Sits really nicely with the chrome.

Only 3k :D
If only i had the space and the coin!
NO!! i dont need another project!
But speaking of buying cars, why do ppl bother advertising them if when you arrange to have a look at it they fuck you around?
I arranged to look at a keto this morning as i was up in brissy with a mate anyways so was just gunna drop in and have a look and put a deposit if it was good and pick it up next week. Last night the guy was like yeah all good as long as its in the morning, which was prefect as i was gunna be up there in the morning.
So i txt him today for his address, got no reply.. called him.. didnt answer.. called again.. no answer.. 30mins later get a reply going "how keen are you on buying it? coz i have other shit to do today." i thought this was a bit rude seeing how last night he said it was fine. I replied saying i was pretty keen to get it as long as it was i the condition he said it was. He replied will you take it today? at this point i was over it, as if i would go rent a car trailer only to find it was a heap of shit and his decription of it was accurate and waste 80$, plus i said to him last night i wanted to have a look at it and make a deposit if it was good, so he knew i wasnt taking it today.
Even tho i didnt waste any time going there or anything i still find it stupid how ppl want to sell there car but cant be bothered doing anything to do so.
/rant
haha

Got the linkage on the throttle body sorted, it can now move and not catch on the adpater!
just need a spring so the secondary works then should be ready to go back on.

Edit-
I know there is a formal ride section, but there is shit all in it.
Im trying to help a friends little sister find a ride for her formal.
She wants something old school, she wants white, four door and RHD but as times running out she will consider anything.
Located on the Gold Coast, from biggera waters to Arundel golf club if i remember correctly (about 10 min drive) and time for photo with the car.
She will pay for fuel and your time. Just for her and her date.
Any help would be fantastic as its only 4 weeks away or so!
Pm me if you can help
Thanks guys
