Righto seeing as we seem to chat a fair bit in and out of the threads, here's a chat/spam thread where you can go for your lives. That and during the day when works slow, it's handy to just chat about inane shit as well, doesn't have to only relate to Old School stuff. So............................... GO! Monaros off at MotaCarb getting the carby redone, bye bye flat spot down low, carby main body was installed back to front to start with. Once back (hoping) to get the fabricated covers on, reroute the fuel line to behind the boost and install the new fuel log/guage. Then, off she goes to get the single headlight front painted and installed when I can find decent grille/headlight surrounds and hopefully the fiberglass 4" reverse cowl scooped bonnet. Have to look into a fuel cell as well as my modified tank is leaking when full -------------------- RIP My beautiful son Joseph, 20/09/08 The most perfect thing to happen to me. I will always love and miss you for as long as I breathe. RIP Grandad, loved and cherished, a strong man to the end. |

Change the thread title to the "Shootin' the Breeze"! That used to be the name of Chic Henrys column in the old school Street Machine magazine where he would just waffle on about any old idle chit-chat in the scene. |

That used to be the name of Chic Henrys column in the old school Street Machine magazine where he would just waffle on about any old idle chit-chat in the scene. And the best part about the old school scene is sitting around talking shit and reminiscing! Anyways whos thinking of checking out the State of Origin Wild Bunch at the nostalgia drags in 2 weeks time. Few of the old blown sedan heroes from the 80s and early 90s will be fired up in anger once again! And Lismore Swap Meet is on Sunday 22nd August for anyone chasing parts....... Done. Shootin The Breeze it is. Might come up for the Wild Bunch, don't know yet, same for the swap meet. New house has a big 3 bay shed damo, plenty of room for a particular "Torana" to be stored in comfort on QLD club rego........... |

If you come down for the swap give me a yell.... we fly out to Sydney for a week on that arvo with the old man to Westmead for brain surgey prep tests and shit, but ill cook up a BBQ full of bacon and eggs for a post swap meet scrounge breakfast if you're keen! Ive spoken to my brother about 'storing' a Torana on QLD club rego at his place too and it might be a go-er, will have to join the Old Skool club in a few weeks after getting a few things sorted and set the wheels in motion! Would be good to get it out and do a few runs with them, especially if they come south! |

Unsure on South runs as most of the machines are loosely defined drag cars lol |

You will need to cut it and plate it, buddy! At least you will be able to use the bit you cut out, as a template. |

As WBTonner said, cut it out and weld in new steel to fill the gap. |

Hey Nick, just an idea a had the other day while looking at a HQ complete glass front, would it be possible to join bonnet, guards, nose cone etc and have a "solid" front end so i can have it tilt? And the police hate fibreglass for some reason |

A one piece front is indeed possible. I don't know about glass though, but you could weld the nosecone, gaurds, bonnet and splash apron together and then fabricate a tilt front for it. I will find some pics of one a guy on the HAMB did on a 55 Chevy. I'll take about 10ish to find it though. |

if you have to fill it mate, then prep will be your friend clean it really well, wire brush, rust convertor, weld doesnt stick to copper so if you come accross some copper plate it s very handy put it behind the repair area weld over grind untill preped, putty, sand putty, sand, prime, paint. |

Agree'd completely Damo. Theres just something about a car thats 35ish - 80 years old that just screams style, thought, passion ect. |

Haha, gotta love the tricky jobs! Makes you wonder, do you reckon these blokes in their new school cars have the same passion for it than the old school blokes have? I mean, sure they might love their cars, but are they truly passionate about them! I dont think they are - but i suppose its hard to get passionate about a factory made plastic piece of shit with no heart or soul. Might start a passion thread in General - tell the kids they just havent got it! - bring on WW3! No way mate, i dont understand how young blokes can get attached too newer cars. They just lack style i mean seriously, what in the world is attractive about a vs/r commodore. Sure there a great family car, but thats all they are. Imo, the only way you get that passion is if you spend countless hours working on them and looking at them and talking too them haha. That thread sounds good by the way. |

Agree'd completely Damo. Theres just something about a car thats 35ish - 80 years old that just screams style, thought, passion ect. You can't feel the same love with a new car. Yep. But you look at the enthusiasts of different old school cars. We like to learn the history about our cars and really like to gather as much info as possible. Your average Torana nut can tell you about all the different models and options that came with the models, all about the racing heritage, basics on how to put this and that together, etc, etc. Same with your eraly Falcon nuts.... any old school enthusiast is usually full of good info and knowledge about the type of cars they like. Go ask most new- schoolers the same things, and theres a big chance they wouldnt have a fucking clue! |
