well i owned a dead standard 1992 silvia q in 2001 i bought for the princely sum of $11900 from a car yard, and i was the 1st australian owner. had genuine(with jap log books to prove it) 89 000 kms. then in 03 i sold it for $11500 and bought myself a dead stock 92 r32 4 door gts-t m spec for $10700.
both cars were absolutely immaculate and everything was super tight unlike s13's and r32's that have had 5 ausie owners and lived a tough life. the s13 was the best car i'd had ever driven back then, especially compared to my mates vk's and brand new lancers and astra's. but the skyline to me was on a whole other level. compared to the s13 the r32 steering was so direct and grip mid corner was fantastic. only gripes was the passive 4ws. it would feel weird pushing it midcorner with less and less steering angle into the corner needed as you pushed.
everything about the skyline feels superior, interior (on my model at least) was not the dated carpet upholestry on the seats and door cards but velour. the brakes are great with no fade even under real hard braking. when left standard the rb20 seems much bigger than a 2 liter motor, with the little ceramic turbo masking the torquless nature that the rb20 normaly has when upgraded.

may i suggest that the gts-4 you went in handled good not from the fact that it is awd, but instead that the r32 is just an inherently good handling platform.
i'd go the r32 over s13 in a heartbeat. motor choice, to be different vq25det.206kw standard and cheap....dirt cheap to buy in japan right now!

cool thanks for ya advise

I went to NZ in 08 for superlap, and admittedly was only there 6 days, but saw sweet fuck all nissans. It's mostly evo's, wrx's hondas etc etc

agree im from wellington and mover to brisbane 2 years ago...and I was like wtf no evo!! no libero no caldina,no primera wtf

its all nissans hahaha

back in nz its rare to see a silvia or a skyline but if you do there mostly big powered...Most common nz cars are evo 1-6, wrxs,Honda type Rs...

In saying that I like nz car scene better

VN commodore for sure.

OT, I have only ridden in a bullshit R34 GTR, a couple of mild S13's, and my S15. I like the silvia's for fun, and the skyline for all around weapon. Depends what you are chasing I guess. I'm a sucker for RWD ever since I got it, couldn't possibly see going to AWD anytime soon. But, each to their own.

IMO every skyline feels far more solid. It seems to have a more expensive feel. And thats just my opinion on build quality in general between the makes (all R and S models)

S15 especially felt abit 'cheaper' then my R34.

That said, its the cheaper model in the range! So its what you can expect smile.gif

Having been around Nissans for a long time and really my preference

R35 GTR > R34 GTR > S15 = R32 GTR > R33 GTR > 180sx > R34 GTT > S14 > R32 GTS > S13 > R33 GTS

Just my preference Id take a S15 every day of the week over the R34 GTT. But honestly a between a S15 and a Tuned R32 would be tough.

GTRs are really in their own league and its not really fair to compare to Silvias or GTS Skylines.

I can deal with the look of a VERY clean Sivia more easily than a Skyline, though if I couldn't get a GTR I wouldn't get either.
Even then, I probably wouldn't get a GTR unless it was an R35, as most of them have been thrashed to within an inch of their lives anyway...

And 32 MKV,
Don't worry. It's possible to be a fat boat and still handle. Look at the c63 black.

ive owned a sil80 (s15 front end), a 180 and a r33. I can say both the 180sx chassis and body felt cheap, but yet a quick pocket rocket.

the r33 feels more solid/stiff, more comfortable and feels more like a sports coupe.

though, alot of junka versions lately getting around of both models. 180/silvia and either trashed and drifted while the r33's are usually modded up in an untasteful way.

Fair comment, I just dont like R33s they are too big, don't look any good unless you spend loads on them and overall only IMO they are the worst of the GTRs, and yes I would take a S15 everyday of the week over a R33 GTR.

The R32 on the other hand IMO is a cool car, while still pretty ugly and very dated in comparison to a S15 it is still the original Godzilla and has that aura about it kind of like the 2000 Subaru WRX Sti.

Downside with the R32 is they are very old now, the dials have been wound back a number of times and they have been beaten on plenty of times. Im not saying a S15 is a spring chicken by any regards but in comparison to a R32 it is much much younger.

Sure its performance will be through the roof, but that isn't the only thing one looks at when buying a car. At the end of the day where the S15 falls in performance it makes up in comfort, styling both inside and out, quality and is just an overall nicer car to live with everyday.

Again it is just my opinion considering R32 GTRs go for less than $20k and most tuned S15s about $25k I know Im not the only one who prefers a S15 to a R32 GTR.
