You can share the road with heavy vehicles more safely by following a few simple tips.
Overtaking a heavy vehicle
 Allow suffi cient time to overtake.
 Stay back at the recommended minimum following distance, without crossing the

 When it is safe to overtake, indicate, accelerate and overtake quickly, without
exceeding the speed limit. Changing down a gear may give you enough engine
power to get past.
 After overtaking, maintain your speed because slowing down too soon will force
the heavy vehicle to brake.
 Do not overtake a heavy vehicle at an intersection when it is turning, unless it
is safe to do so.
Sharing the road safely with heavy vehicles
 Do not cut in front of a heavy vehicle because you will reduce the driver’s
braking distance.
 Maintain a consistent speed when a heavy vehicle overtakes you.
 If you are behind a heavy vehicle and you cannot see the driver in its side
mirrors, the driver cannot see you.
 Do not tailgate a heavy vehicle, you cannot see what is ahead of it and you
won’t be able to react in time.
 Remember that heavy vehicles accelerate slowly.
 When a heavy vehicle is turning, keep back from the intersection because the
heavy vehicle needs more road space to turn than other vehicles.
 Give way to buses displaying this sign (left) when
required to do so—see Giving way to buses, page 80.
 Heavy vehicles that show the sign DO NOT OVERTAKE
TURNING VEHICLE are allowed to take up more than
one lane to turn—see Overtaking, page 88.
 If you are towing a caravan or trailer and a heavy
vehicle wants to pass you, do not speed up. Allow
the heavy vehicle to maintain speed and pass safely

I had a lady on thursday in a white AU falcon, I was waiting to turn out onto bennetts rd and she was parked on the side of the road... finally a gap came in traffic so i started to take off, and this woman who had been sitting on the side of the road on the phone decides to do the same thing only she failed to indicate and is still chatting away on her mobile phone, completely oblivious that she nearly caused an accident she cruises past me taking her hand off the wheel to change gear, swerving all over the shop. I stopped and let her go but made sure she could see my finger out the window.

I swear there must be some statistics out there somewhere prooving that 90% of people using mobile phones while driving are female... They just can't stand to let a phone call wait for 5 minutes, or they just have to reply to the REALLY important text message.

Text messaging while driving is one of the most dangerous thing you can do in my opinion...no focus on the road, and no control of the steering wheel in emergency.
Instead of speed cameras, they should be setting up Vito vans taking photos of every car that passes them on main roads, and fining all the dickheads on phones.

I love this topic.. such a good way to vent road rage after dealing with the large amount of retards driving on the roads lol.

I was driving down and a p plater in a red dodge neon (or whatever they're called here) cut me off then hooned down the road, the popo man tailgating me sat behind his arse the whole way. Didn't pull him over though but fuck he was cutting it fine going through the traffic. the neon changed lanes to sit behind/in front of other cars, then the popo dude decides he'll do the same.

Today on Wembley Road Logan Central around lunch time, I was headed west bound. This Police 4wd (RAV4 or something), was going at least 80-90 km/h on the service road without lights and sirens, in what I presume to be a 60 km/h zone (main road is 60). I thought it must have been going to an emergency or something, but then it stopped at the lights to come onto Wembley Road and waited there for the lights to change. Police should be setting a good example to other road users, not breaking the road laws for no good reason.

I was driving along Beaudesert Rd today coming from Sunnybank towards the Logan Mwy, and as I entered the Illaweena street intersection some fucktard in a Pajaro (coming from Browns Plains direction turning into Illaweena St) pulls out right in fornt of me.. I hit the brakes and just miss him, the car behind me nearly ran up my arse.. now the thing that really pissed me off was the fat bitch in the passanger side had a toddler sitting on her lap!!! The look of fear on that poor kids face was terrifying..
Some people are just fucked in the head!!! who drives around with a little kid on their lap in the front seat??

Yesterday coming back from the All Jap car show my frind was driving his car and i was following him along Sandgate Road heading south, We were pulling up to the lights before you go under the tunnel at Nundah, and some dickhead in a AU Falcon must have thought he was Mr King Dorifto or something. He comes flying out of the Street next to Northside Honda, through the lights and gets is sideways, he cant control it and ends up mounting the centre median strip and stopping lengthways inbetween our cars!! And with one flat tyre and not to mention the suspension damage he would have caused he takes off in a cloud of tyre smoke and goes back up the street he just came from... ohh followed by the police too btw

It's called self levelling and there's nothing wrong with how the lights are set. The colour change is due to the beam pattern (white-blue strip-darkness)

Now.. When you raise a car you should lower the aim of your headlights or else will dazzle other drivers. On the flipside of that when you lower your car you should raise the aim so that you don't reduce the effectiveness of your lights.

What am I being sarcastic about? I was doing almost exactly 60 km/h heading westbound on the main road, and it was going a lot faster than I was as it drew level to where I was and then accelerated away from me at quite quickly. It didn't concern me enough to make a official complaint, I just found it interesting that a marked police car was clearly doing the wrong thing on the road in view of public.
