Post #1 post 20th June 2010 - 10:59 AM
hi guys. i know this has probably been asked a thousand times but i havent seen a thread on here so im asking what is the main good and bad points on silvia and skyline.
it probably comes down the personal preference eg SR or RB, 4WD or RWD blah blah blah but has anyone had both at some point and gone "shit this ones better"?????
i own a s13 but i was in my mates r32 gts4 and i seemed to like it. specially the 4WD it handled so well. it is stock compared to mine but i was impressed
maybe i just had my s13 for a while and was in something different but would like to know what people think... website that states facts?????

forgot to mention... leave out the GTR's lol i know which one i would be choosing. smile.gif

R34 GTT > R32 GTST (with RB25) > 180sx (SR20) > Silvia (SR20) > R33 gtst > R32 GTS4 (RB20) > R32 gtst (RB20) > 180sx (CA) > Silvia (CA)

I have based this off looks/performance. tbh, the R33 gtst has a better engine that the 180/silvia, but I dont really like the look of most of them

i own a spec-r s15 so my opinion is bias to the sr20 but i have been in -

r32, r33, r34, 180sx and my s15 never been in a silvia but i am getting a r43gtt next car (eventually im not rich)
i personally would never buy a 4wd or awd car full stop, i love effortless sliding

GTS4. Lame as 4WD RB20 with weak as piss transfer case not based on GTR running gear.

After owning both an S13 Silvia and an R32 Skyline, I wouldn't even consider the Silvia again if I had the choice.

Skyline is far superior, especially if you have an RB25 in there.

Hmmmm?

You dont like 4wd?

He said he would never by a AWD car because they dont slide, well the GTR slides fine, in both 2WD and 4WD.

And although it may not be your conventional "drifting" you can cerntaly make AWD cars "slide".

Why the fuck would you buy a GTS4 if you could buy a GTR? I mean I know there is the price difference (though not much anymore) and that GTR parts are more expensive...but I mean come on!?

OT: R32 4 door with RB25 <3 Though I'm biased laugh.gif

nah, awd is sweet, and whilst yes, you can put them in 2wd, and have seen sooooome awd sliding, I dont think it would be the most efficiant way of sliding....

(hence noone sliding cars in awd in major drift comps?)

Mate bought his stock 4 years ago for 10k (RB20 GTS4)

What were gtr's back then... 20 - 24k?

Definatly not the most efficient no.

But I had to stand up for the AWD's, and i didnt think (although i am only assuming) he was going to be entering any major drif comps.

Couldnt you use that for any skyline?

Why get an R32 4 door with an RB25 when you can just buy a GTR???

Oh yeah, the price.....

If you already have an S13 just get an RB25 for it. Don't listen to TwinCam about weight distribution, if you get understeer just induce oversteer with your right foot tongue.gif

thats why i said froget about the GTR cause come on if you had the choice of a silvia or GTR which one?????
the only person that has answered the question right is the bloke that said he owned a silvia then sykline and said skyline by far.

i used the gts4 as a example cause my mates car is this and it happends to be the only skyline ive been in so.... i just liked it for its handling. he was kicking ass around corners way faster than i can in my 180sx (without rolling it)

Having owned and S13 and now an R33 and have driven many different silvias and skylines i can tell you right now skylines piss all over silvias especially with the Rb26 and 25's. Beats the tractor motor sr's and paperweight ca any day.

disagree

s13 = 180
s13 aero>180
Type x 180> all s13 (although type x's should really be compared with s14s due to age)

I said AWD was good, I never once even mentioned a GTiR, not like i said "fuck the silvias and skylines, just buy a GTiR, they are heaps better in every way and i think there is a guy selling one on here with a forged SR20DET for really cheap"

Go the silvia.

You are a boostcruising user. By proxy you are cheap tongue.gif .

Silvias are cheaper to mod than skyrices.

I wouldnt sell my skyrice to buy a sil tho biggrin.gif. Especially the S15, S15's can only be modded to 'Wog spec'.

that just comes down to personal preference, I mean, i like both silvias and 180's I just think 180's look better. (I've lumped all model 180's in together, its just easier)
