Hey guys,

Looking at buying a V35 skyline, and i am just wondering if they have any known issues or problems as they seem like pretty nice cars and fairly cheap at that. Wanted to see what all you guys think about them and if there was anything i should know before buying one!

Thanks

They are the commodore of japan, nicely kitted out, reliable, but yes not very quick. As with most cars, regular serviving will keep it reliable. I havent heard of any major problems and they are something a bit different.

They're a lovely car. Quite luxurious. Would definitely consider buying one.

Great value for money... will probably be my next vehicle after the Soarer

With their fairly terrible depreciation over the last couple of years, they are now excellent value for money.

The only major problems i've heard of are people drifting them (gearboxes), and people going crazy with turbo/supercharging (coilpacks and bent rods)

A really hard car to beat for the money smile.gif

mamoru.gif That car's pretty nice though smile.gif

But, haven't heard people having many problems with the V35, nice car and with mild mods it isn't too bad smile.gif

They are awesome cars BUT PLEASE STAY AWAY FROM THE 03-04 MODELS as they are failure prone in all areas, 05 onwards are choice buys, even better the v36 or v37 if u can, same motor as the 370z

A maxima with the CVT would accelerate faster tho due to the transmission but all things equal, the v35 is a better handling car

the current generation is the v36 so where you get v37 from mate???

OT: id say they are a good car. share componentry with the 350z with the engine just being a detuned version (305 vs 315kw).
only problems being found is the decoding of the centre dash computer. dont know if people have fixed it yet but some people can live with a screen in jap and others pull the feed from it, leave the standard computer in and a run a second computer on the screen??

Just don't buy one with the 8 speed CVT, it will cost u 20 grand to replace it!

iv got one (6spd manual 2003 sedan) and absolutely love it. they are pretty much a 350z with a different body on top.. same suspension, engine and drive line etc... it has more than enough poke for a daily street car. theres a bunch of cheap simple mods u can get to bump the power up a bit (CAI, Plenum spacers, exhausts etc..).

only major negative things iv ever heard are the paddle shift 8 spd autos in the sedans... you need to service this exactly as the manual say with the nissan oil (that is about $1200 for the auto box alone.*) or it will fuck up.. iv heard 20K to replace it and the closes service center for it is NZ... provided u service it as nissan states then you shoudlnt have any issues

*yes you read correctly, $1200 for gearbox oil on the 8spd autos.

do it!, old man has one and my brother just bought one and never had a problem with them, and for a 2.5litre v6 there quite quick

and he also has had the screen and radio fixed, cost him 1500 all up

eek3.gif think u might have your 3's mixed up with 2's lol

Screens can be decoded to english for around $300 if i can remember correctly from chris rogers @ Audio Express.
He also specialises in electronics for v35,m35 etc.....

V35s are good. They arent slow, and they make good useful, flat power. Not peaky and no lag like the turbo generations before hand.

Its a 350Z, lets me honest.

I think they can look hideous one day, great the next. Im undecided. I think id still go a 34. I love skylines with turbos biggrin.gif

VQ35DE 3.5L are 350z engines. They are also in the V35 350GT Coupes and V35 350GT sedans.

VQ25DE 2.5L (158kw) in the 250GT sedans and VQ30DE (191kw) 3.0L in 300GT V35 sedans.
