the reason i ask is because ive just got back from talking to Autosport in adelaide, and they want to sell some stuff up here. Velo racing seats are also keen to get some seats up here. so im trying to work out if there is anything here already, and if there is much interest in the drift scene to buy.

I'm sure there would be interest, but whether people would actually buy it is hard to say. Depends on how competitive the price is, quality and if you can get it cheaper off the web.

I buy most of my stuff down south, usually works out cheaper than up here.

opposite lock doesnt really advertise the revolution racegear much. not to sure on prices yet, frieght is gunna be the killer. wondering what the interest would be and on what sort of items, then i can get prices. but velo wants to send some seats up so people can actually sit in something.

Ok tyer size question.

Picked up my s15 stocky's yay.

they have 225/50/16 and 205/55/16 on them, the 32 rims are 205/55/16.

both are 16x6.5 (r32 is +40 s15 +45)

what tyer should i used for drifting. the 225 looks like it has to much bulge for the rims thus sideways flex underload, which i dont think would be good.
would a 195/60/16 (if avalerble) be suterble for drifting?

215/60R16 worked ok on my r32. They have big sidewalls but i did not ever feel anything and my car had stiff suspension. Anything cheap will do mate. Best thing about 16's is that there are shit loads of second hand tyres floating around at the tyre places for them.

UNKNOWN
Post #1656

yeah i wouldn't worry much mate, sidewall flex is unlikely to be a major issue for you while you are starting out.

just try heaps you will find what works for you.

start with 45 - 50 psi in them

TANKI
Post #1658

NO do not start with this FFS it shits me to tears. THe main succesfull people on that track were the ones running 38psi in the tyres. You need grip as much as you need loss of traction when drifting and 45-60psi will do nothing but balloon your tyres out and fuck them. Its the most pointless fucking this i have ever heard. GOD DAM IT.....

This shits me so much you have no idea. Chris i thought you would havew known better.

Dont go that high with your pressures. Leave them at normal street driving pressure as they get hot it will raise but around 3 % anyway but you dont need heaps of pressure. The wheel alignment is the smartest thing i have ever heard you say.

But what would i know about tyres and fitting them

It looks like shit. You did a good job on it but it looks crap. Colored wheels are a shitty idea. I have never been a fan but each to their own.

I ran 35-37psi in all corners, but I know most DA cars run as low as 27 psi.

The Mitch entry on turn 5 will forever be called the mitch entry

JET_RB25
Post #1671

Yeah well the entry to turn 10 will be called the mitch and BJ entry. That would be the closest two drivers have gotten on that corner and the entry was from close to turn 9. Was wicked best drifting moment of my life was me and Mitch at the drift night.

JET_RB25
Post #1673

When you get out there and do better you can. I just know its something i and mitch will remember for some time. Wait till you do massive entries from turn nine to 10 with mitch right on your ass.

You got a lot more power down to the ground then most of us ever do. You car flies its like fink he did it in 0 Transitions LOL. Its the power if you have the power to get the speed then your all sweet. Personally i hate the fish tails between there wanky crap and in no way help with the sweeper as a corner and most the link it actually run wide and miss the apex. Even fink hated the way we drifted it.

Thanks dude, shame my drifting sucked on the day! I never got time to do the wheel alignment on it, and after replacing the front K-frame, and tie rods, it was all so out of whack, I could hardly steer the thing.

My goal was just to make it there, I did that, and even pulled off some nice fat skids and whips, in the middle of the straight for the crowd, that was alot of fun in front of so many people.

Will see you there at the May 23rd meeting. :-)
