hey jeff, what does the "treadwear" number mean/relate to?? tread depth? not tread depth, but more like how soft the tyre is... ie a 200 UTQG (treadwear) rating will wear in half the time a 400 UTQG tyre will. Most road tyres are about 420-500, sports tyres about 280-400 and 'semislick' tyres about 140-260. my road tyre achilles platinum atr are a 420 UTQG. lots of understeer, but a good performing "road" tyre |

can you run a 205 on a 6.5" rim? I haven't set a tyre width as the strut & guard & camber combo will do that. you might find that you cant run a 205 and lots of neg camber. but thats up to the individual drivers to work out how they want to tackle that. I wouldn't run a 205 on a 6.5" rim, too much sidewall flex as I think the tyre is too wide for the rim. jeff, can i understand something, if a tyre is under 200 UTQG rating, and still under $300rrp, does it need to be approved to be able to run it?> If the rating is MORE than 200 treadwear and the manufacturers published RRP is less than $300 then you can use those tyres without approval, but if in doubt just ask and I will confirm if they are OK or not. I have concerns about the financial burden of running really soft tyres which is why I am restricting how soft the tyres can be. You will still get great performance from the approved tyres, hopefully without having to replace them constantly. |

Also the treadwear rating won't necisserily be half their are other factors that come into play. can you run a 205 on a 6.5" rim? and we'll be almost ready for the first round of circuit I hope. need to get a cage and a few bits done (water pump/timing belt :S) before we are back out there, still cant wait to have another fag around Yes it will fit. |

Jeff what's the go with roll cages? We're getting pretty close to race date... do you want to race at QR on the 28th ? Minimum requirement for circuit racing is a 4-point cage + race seat and harness etc see here - http://www.trackattack.com.au/racing Paul (PRO050 here on Boost) has my car and is measuring up the steel required. If you want him to build you a cage you will have to let him know when you need it for, I think he has a lot on at the moment. hopefully will have the price confirmed for your guys in a day or 2. |

I stand corrected might have to hunt something better, but most 'good' ones are 15's.....the expense of 14's to 15's will kill me for now i'll just plug along with 14s |

I am pretty sure that one of the cars there on the weekend had 205x50x15 KU's on it. so you have to decide what you want more tyre or more neg camber. Note: the tyres cant protrude outside the guards. |

so circuit is going ahead now?? nice will it be just excels on the track during?? OH yes circuit racing is definitely going ahead ! At first we will share the track with other sedans, probably have a few good battles with old datto's, geminis etc. Once we get enough cars we can run our own groups. |

Can't wait till my debut in April ...that $60 for extra drivers is really rough though Yeah, apparently didn't have it before I've had some big discussions about this (as we have split the car 3 ways) and to best way to do it is to double enter the car and the second entry is $40 less. Still, its pretty rough. |

we only went to 15" because a few of the guys had cars that came with 15" wheels and there didnt seem any point in making people spend money to go back to a smaller wheel with less tyre options. |

15" is more than big enough for such a small car. |
