so whats everyone running for rubber then!? I've found some 15's that fit, with a 35 offset. is it the rubber width thats the issue? slightly rolled guards? Good job on finding 15's with the right offset, centre-hub diameter and stud pattern. I did a bit of looking around at different wheel / tyre options but it all got a bit hard (and expensive). Think i might just go the easy option and run 175...not alot about but Pirelli and Yokohama do have something half decent. |

I wouldnt stress about tyres for the first few runs, as long as what you have is in good condition. |

the only reason ive bought an excel was because of this thread all of us mate, all of us wait until you get a cage then the fun will really begin with the circuit racing ! will we need to sign up to the mg car club for hillclimbing?? NO. 99.9% of our events will be AASA The few that we do that are CAMS (like Mt Cotton) you will need a CAMS Level2s license. to get your L2S you can join any CAMS car club, doesnt have to be MGCCQ I will try to make day licenses available for CAMS events if I can. |

Wasas So a 98 with 187k needing a new water pump for $500 is a good deal?? Actually looks too good to strip out though!!! Body is in really good condition and interior is spotless. Any wreckers buying the interiors from those that have stripped theirs out??? I'd say thats a good deal. if your handy with a spanner the pump is 60, and about 3hrs of work. there is a guide someone on replacing one. You could try and sell the bits on ebay but i doubt you'll get much. never know tho. Pick up the exhaust this arvo .... car is raceable at the moment but isn't registered yet. 50/50 on whether i want to hire a trailer for the 14th or wait.... Where did you get the zorst done? we want to go have a chat to someone about getting a 2.25" header back done with a removable cat. care to share your guy and throw him some more work? |

but am i able to reserve a number in the mean time? (and, as we have 2 drivers, is it possible to have two numbers or is it 1 number per car?) yes, if you let me know what numbers you want I will put your name against it in the numbers register - www.trackattack.com.au/excel It depends how you enter the car, If you single enter the car and have a seperate driver for each event you will only need one number If you single enter the car and share one entry then the time keepers will only want you to have one number, they wont care who is driving. You can can also double or triple enter the car and run it in two or three separate groups. they have numbers at the track that can be taped to the side of the car if extra ones are needed on the day. |

Any wreckers buying the interiors from those that have stripped theirs out??? sounds like an excellent deal to me I started the water pump on mine last night, hoping to finish it tonight/tomorrow morning if i get time. I am doing the timing belt as well while i am at it. so far its been fairly straight forward, just a lot of stuff to unbolt to get to the stuff underneath. I sold the towbar of mine for $65 on ebay, so parts can be sold, I reckon that the seats would be salable if they are in pristine condition. Try some of the Hyundai forums. |

We can do the exhaust if you like wasas, should be fairly cheap if you just want it press bent rather than mandrel bent. |

There is a 98 twin cam available on gumtree.com.au with the asking price of $500 however he will take less as he is moving interstate and there are a few problems with the motor. It looks like it has blown a head gasket but other than that it seems ok. so if there is anyone looking for 1 and can swing a spanner this could be yours for about $300 (I was going to buy it until the free offer came up!!!) |
