dammit! I gotta keep the thing road legal :\ this is going to make it hard!

Does this still mean you have to run a 13" rim?

trackattack
Post #142

yes 13" wheel size.
You are permitted to bend the struts to achieve negative camber
this will help fit fatter tyres under the guards.

I think its a great idea.

Im not a number you can add at the moment, but I am trying to get somethings in order if it takes off. Hopefully later in the year I might be in a position to get involved.

We built up a similarly cheap car for sprints about 5 years ago and it really is heaps of fun giving something you dont care about a hard time! You are so much happier knowing you dont have to drive it to work on monday.

Mybe you should take you car out to Lakeside and see if you can beat the 2 excels running around at the moment.
This class is cheap, fun motor sport but make no mistake a 69 sec time around the fastest track in Australia (overall average speed) is no joke, and put 10 to 20 plus Excel on the track at the same time will be insane fun.

This is an insanely great idea.

Well done. I plan to keep an eye on this, hopefully it is still going next year, I would love to be a part of it.

Unfortunately our baby being due in 2 weeks is killing my chances of doing it this season :oopsie:

This sadly is a great idea, its a good way to get ouy on the track in a car that you dont mind if it gets wrecked, or if it does cheap to fix (or buy another). will also be good building block for people wanting to get into circuit stuff.

Was wondering how many people are actually getting into it? and how many races are you looking to run a year?

Hi Jeff,
It's Lee from Real Dyno Performance, we have been watching this and are keen to get involved. This is a great idea and the guys at my shop are looking forward to racing. We have 1 car to enter possibly 2 for the first event so you can count us in. Is there any problems with sign writing on the cars?

Hi Jeff,

What ASAA reg's would the circuit racing come under? do you know what licence we need for it?
and to confirm the harness only need to be AS2596? what about the seats?

Edit; fixed my fuckups.

AASA Circuit Race Licence is $210 per year. http://www.trackattack.com.au/forms/qr%20f...Application.pdf
Vehicle and apparel requirements - http://www.trackattack.com.au/forms/circui...and_apparel.pdf
Scrutineering form - http://www.trackattack.com.au/forms/circui...it%20racing.pdf
QUOTE
Minimum Roll Over Protection must meet AS/NZ Standards AS 1636.1-1996
Minimum four point harness in Sedans, five or six point for Sports and open wheelers to AS2596 and installed to Australian Standards
All seats must be securely attached to the chassis in a suitable manner.

They haven't anything noted for the seats, but I would assume a fixed back racing seat as a minimum requirement for circuit racing.
You can get some inexpensive ones that comply with Aus stds which should do the job.

Hi Lee
Sign writing is encouraged to make the cars look like race cars !

Lookin' good. I'm probably going to just run my old girl stock. She has 350,000kms on her atm and the suspension/brakes are a bit old. After setting a base run I can start upgrading it :(

I have a spare engine/gearbox here and just sold an X2 excel for $155 last week on ebay :(

It comes as fortnightly payments these days. Givernment is trying to stop people using it for useless shit.

Regardless of dollars, I am thinking time is better spent withthe family than ramming you on the track hahahaha Next year champ :(
