1992 S13 CA18de. I recently bought this car not running. Fuel pump does not prime, car cranks but no start. I have checked fuel pump for fault but it is fine. Fuse checked, OK. Any ideas? From what I am aware of, the ECU sends a signal to the EGI Pump relay to power the fuel pump. The EGI relay in the fuse box clicks. The EGI Pump relay does not click. I swapped these relays around to check for fault but same thing happened. Thanks in advance, hope we can sort it out. |

Since the problem persists when you swapped the relays there has to be a break/short/blown fuse in the circuit that controls the relay. Bridge the #3 and #5 terminals on the relay to get the car running for now but trace the #1 and #2 wires back and find out which one is the culprit. Make sure to disconnect the bridge when the car's off though. |

Unplug the relay and stick a paperclip in the plug joining pins 3 and 5. Then see if the fuel pump primes when you turn the ignition on. Don't leave it on for too long though. Just a quick check. |
