Hey guys, Next year im hoping to purchase a 1989 BMW 325is, they have a 2.5l straight 6, I was looking to buy one like this I was looking to keep it street legal and still driftable, Im thinking I will get a bit of internal stuff done to the engine and get a LSD and stiffer suspension. Is there anything else i should look into getting done? This is to be kept P Plate legal. Thanks alot |

lol i can see you point but i guess i just wanted to give op benifit of the doubt that he had the money to do so. i mean he is looking to buy a bmw to drift so he has obviously counted in for the fact that the stock diff is weak and parts are expensive so he must have money to burn |

Wrong car for the wrong purpose. Buy a S13/14/15/Skyline/Cefiro dont see why these cudnt drift well if you put decent suspension set up on it, the diff on them are sometimes already tight but shhimm it anyway.... do some basic engine mods and pray for rain |

I see where you are coming from as well man, I reckon use the E30 shell and drop an SR20DET in it. yes and he should buy a p plate legal ute and a car trailer dont see why these cudnt drift well if you put decent suspension set up on it, the diff on them are sometimes already tight but shhimm it anyway.... do some basic engine mods and pray for rain they do drift good i'v seen a couple out at archy that drift pretty dam good |

Why so serious 810 OUT. I'm being a realist, he's a P plater. He won't have enough money to make it drift properly. Why reinvent the wheel? Why not just use what has been tried and tested? That has been proven to work time and time again and is piss cheap (S13) Because he wants class! Jump onto eurocca.net plenty of blokes over their willing to help and loads of blokes drifting them! |

i can see both sides of this arguement...yes its good to be different, but if you're serious about getting into drifting, it is a wise move to hook yourself up with something you can throw around, break and damage without having to worry about the hassle of finding replacement parts/panels. there are also incredible amounts of 'drift' upgrades available for jap cars. it would be much harder to set up a bmw with the right suspension and alignment than something jap...but thats not to say it can't be done. it all comes down to what you want more really...to be different, or to have your car on the road more often. |

Ok wow guys this was blown out of the water like crazy, Ive signed up for the army next year and will be making a G a week and at my age I wont have any other expenses that need to be paid. |

Ive read on many E30 sites that the iS came with better parts stock and it was dubbed the Sport version, not sure on the truthfulness on that though. most of that you would be replacing anyway. sportier may mean stiffer susy, maybe a few spoilers, wheels, interior etc these a rb20 or 25 old beemer (dunno what series) down her in tas... but its bright orange and has a body kit |

Ive read on many E30 sites that the iS came with better parts stock and it was dubbed the Sport version, not sure on the truthfulness on that though. Its true. Mtech Kit, Sports interior, Suspension, LSD, etc. They fetch anywhere between 15-20k. A normal 325i on the otherhand will fetch less then half for a decent example. |

lil_bobby_260 You should buy my bbs rs 15x7.5 for that car it would look hot as with the stock guards and the mtech1 kit got a link to pics? i have a set of wide offset 15x7 simmons for it already, but i have a mate with a red e30 coupe that is chasing BBS wheels for his. Also - it is a Foha kit from what i can see, and the guards on mine are actually widened by about 10mm at the rear and a bit at the front. EDIT: just saw pics and price - i'll pass the info on. |

Mine. Drifts well enough, yet to take it to a track. Only mods so far are H&R springs, Bilsteins shocks, whiteline front and rear swaybars, and an LSD diff centre (mine wasnt an IS). Forget the nay-sayers, it can be done, and cheaply. This has cost me much less than a silvia would, less than my R31 did even. hmmm someone who makes sense.... You can drift any cars... it depends on driver as for parts well yes sheep are more common... your choice what you choose to drift... We r building a bullet drift, cheaper for parts....no? different....yes! |

Stick with simple stuff first like exhaust, Suspension package if you can afford it, and a good filter/intake system. No need to go for big power numbers to start with. The AE86 is low on power but drifts like a mongrel. Great car. Start simple then work your way up to the more expensive gear and you will learn how your car reacts to each mod. |

That has inspired me like all hell, that last picture is soo goodd. Does anyone know what engine the red e30 that drifts at archy sometimes has? N/A straight six 2.5l does really well, cause they are soooo light |

Oh wow thats awesome. Do many people on here know much about the 2.7l stroker conversion? I want to do it when i get my e30 but ive heard mixed reviews, some say its alot more power and torque all round and others say that the bigger rod becomes less stable and cant hold higher RPMs. |
