Seriously though, the 32 makes quite an interesting sound when it goes balls out, Thursday was the first time I got to hear it. Higher pitched than I'd expected.

lol not me, the AWD doesn't let me skid.. it only launches rolleyes.gif
yeah it is a high raspy sound, i'll get an exhaust put on soon. it deepens it a bit and makes it sound a whole lot better. even though the stock one sounds awesome anyway.

LOVED that supercharger whine, sounded like a jet! thumbsup.gif

Personally I'd stick with that one unless you'll get a good deal more power out of it. I think a high, raspy sound is more attractive than a deep farty one-you don't hear many genuine "performance" cars that sound like a Milo tin Silvia!
As for my whine-I like it too, but SC whine tends to divide people. Hell, when the Bathurst HSV was reviewed in Top Gear magazine, the reviewer said he wouldn't buy one due to the "annoying" whine.
I think few things sound better!
You didn't hear it going all out though...

thats awesome, i like the whine, as long as it's mated with a good exhaust note.
i'd like to put a supercharger with an exhaust like this. - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vy2_c9bYtac...feature=related

That's not too bad. Still has a sound of efficiency to it.
edit-
Any idea what the power increase might be?

i think there's a supercharger kit to put on stock that increases 100bhp and a fair bit of touque... paired with a few other things you could get some nice gains with alot of reliablity too..

but like all euro car performance parts it'l be kinda exy.

ummmmm 100 bhp from an exhaust?
dunno.gif

lol i thought you ment a supercharger.
umm exhaust i wouldn't think it would be all that big, but extractors would be best then paired with the catback.
like all N/A car exhaust it just "mainly" for sound untill you do a few more supporting mods.

I wouldn't. Like we talked about on Thurs, yes, it'd be comical, but I just don't think it's the right kind of car to start making crazy. If you add 100+ more hp to the golf chassis, you're going to have to start doing some crazy and expensive mods to keep the rest of the car up with it, not to mention safe.
Just my opinion, of course.

yeah, i see your point. and as for the 100hp+ more won't handle it. they handle it quiet well, theres a daily driven 550HP twin turbo one in sydney with no problems and a fair few in europe getting around with big HP numbers, hell there's even a MK3 with 900HP lol... so i don't see why 350-400hp would hurt. but yes i think where the car shine's is no where near in true HP but more in the handleing side of things witch is where i should focus.

That extra power wouldnt be much of an issue I reckon. Unless you're tracking it where you're constantly driving it hard. Day to day driving without much strain on the car shouldnt affect it at all IMO. Think about it, you probably wouldnt see that 300 or 400hp until the rpm is reached anyway so unless you're thrashing it, I dont see any issue with that.

But having said that, with any modifications, be prepared for something else to fail.

lol that reminds me of some random from the carpark in lissy, told me that one type of exhaust system for a forester would add 105kw on its own, i just laughed at him.

100% correct. but i wont be going FI untill afew more years but just do a few things here and there in the meantime. plans are ( intake, exhaust, extractors, tune, coilovers, swaybars, lightweight rims, brakes) and then when i feel the need maybe either get somthing else or boost it and have some epic fun.

Strudel
Post #440

Nice plan.

Just on the exhaust, instead of literally laughing at them, maybe tell them each sticker they've got on the car will give them extra 10awkw.

You missed brakes on that list, in anticipation of them having to haul you down from higher speeds more often.

yeah definatly, wouldn't need to get brakes intill FI anyway anything thats not these R32 brakes are massive for the car and stop like a shot duck.

Not too bad but not really a lot of imports though. Maybe the evo/supra/skyline club can make an appearance on a common night. That'll be great. Chicken Parm was good as usual.

HATE TAX: Didnt realise your tires are THAT thin. What size are they?

235/30 R20s Front and 245/30 R20s Rear.

And whats the go, Thought every second thursday was 'Anything other' Then muscle, Commos, Falcons Etc???

wolfman101
Post #450

yea, there was one FPV guy I was chatting with who got there around 6:30, and a couple of Holdens too.
Then again, I'm not import either, so I really can't talk.
edit-just looked at CB.
Damn nice work-Jebuz, my '6 looks like glass!

bring it out next week? That sounded somewhat lol, if you catch my drift. biggrin.gif
That was my first chance to check out your interior...as I said on Thurs, very nice sir.
and 12.9x is very respectable for that HP.
I'm sure you'll whittle it down further.
Just take a big dump before you hit the track, maybe.

It's a damn shame I'll be out of the country next time:( I was gonna bring the Brabby along, and risk ridicule.
