Just curious all, living on Mt Tamborine with the front lip of my car scrapes if I put it into our driveway, so it's usually parked on the street or on the front lawn, where it can get still next to the road.

My parents cars both ford falcons scrape on the driveway, its just the way it was designed which is crap.

Was curious does anyone know of someone / a company that designs custom made ramps to get the car into the driveway? If I could get it into the driveway, then it can be garaged.

I have spoken to some companies, however none of them custom design ramps.

Heres a photo of the driveway.

Thanks smile.gif

Well I can get it into the driveway sometimes without scraping, its just any angle it has a 99% chance it will, usually just lucky if it doesn't.

It's more starting to worry me as storm season seems to be approaching, hail with the car outside would just screw it, and any car outside when its hailing is just bad news.

I've been looking at rubber ramps all of that stuff, however its not just the angle its only the front part of the car that hits, so what I'm thinking is if I have something that is around 3 feet of the driveway that can go out onto the road, thats portable? That'd be a good solution, just not to sure what material.

I reckon if I can put a 3 feet sheet of metal, or something that it could be designed properly, then i'd be able to get the front tyre starting to help the front move up in the air, rather then just a straight crunch into it.

Just rung the council to see what they reckon, they'll be getting back to me, but its just stupid how some of the driveways even in non-hilly parts of the mountain have been designed, car sucidice.

Every time you pull in and out of the drive away who is the unlucky one that has to get out, drag the sheet metal or ramps or whatever, put them in place, and then remove them? So much effort for something that requires a simple solution.

Find something like that and problem solved. Just make sure that you are not blocking the drain way or they are permanently fixed.

I can guarantee you my car is lower than your lancer and I have no issues getting up these kind of driveways, if not steeper. You need to hit it at a massive angle. Im taking sideways.

pay the money and get your driveway cut out so its flat to the road

Agree with Josh on this one. My 200 wouldve been much lower than your lancer and I never scraped. Angle it more.

i rekon just grab a piece of 7-10mm plate steel 350mm-450mm wide by 2.5 metres long and take 6-9 tiles out of the drive way and replace with concrete with a bolt sticking out once the concrete is set grab 3 nuts like the ones in the picture and drill holes in the sheet metal where the bolts will go through it and stick those nuts on the top (so they wont damage tyres) and the metal will stay there and you wont scrap out and if you do scrap out it will slide on the steel not grab rip and tear

http://www.crf50shop.com/images/ecrouculasseweb.jpg

by taking 2-3 tiles out where each bolt goes and replacing with concrete (you only have to use rapid set and throw 3-4 shovels of 5-10mm rock with it) it'll provide a better anchor for the threaded rod/bolt sticking out of the concrete coz you will crack the tile in 2 if you drill into it

hope that helps

I have a steeper entrance into my place then that and I have a bodykit and lowered aswell. I dont have any problems. You have to either think, abit of under damage or hail damage? Which one would you prefer?

just get a bit of timber and bolt it into the gutter, just make sure you leave room for the water to get past. have seen it done many times.

or cut better angles

I got the same driveway, do a bigger angle. I let my car dogleg, then when the rear wheel hits the ground again I put the power down to get up it.

Its against council rules to do anything to your drive way without there approval. If someone trips over it your pretty much fucked

steel plate it or angle more i think you have all the options you need in here so just choose one or take your front bar off eachtime you want to go in or out of the drive way. unsure.gif

L2HecticAngle

I can also guarantee my car is lower and I can get up my same sized driveway fine. Come in at like a 10-15 degree angle so you're almost going up one whole side at a time. And by side I mean drive like you're basically just going to park on the side of the road (or drive with 2 wheels on the gutter) and then turn up. After you get your first front wheel up you're fine.

Once you learn the cars limits you'll even be able to do it at a nice speed.

Leaving the driveway is just the same thing in reverse. Reverse out and hook it full lock so one rear tyre, then one front tyre touches the road and you're leaning to the side. Then just drive forward at a small angle again.

I have seen lots of places with steel plate bolted down so that water can pass under or even just a length of timber would do it...

what kind of angle? get as close to the gutter and full lock?

So you're basically just parking the car on the side of the road with the leading tyre pretty much touching the gutter. Then turn the wheel and drive up on an angle. After the first wheel is up you'll be fine.

EDIT: Epic paint skills to the rescue lol
