FTO's have to be one of the ugliest girl cars ive seen. Theres a whole 'crew' of them the frequent ipswich on a fri/sat night. Some love them, some hate them, but you can't deny they put out pretty good performance for their price and they're a shitload better than the boganmobile VN and VL that everyone whores |

I actually dont see all that many people in VLs and Vns, well not as much as people harp on about. Sure there are less people in FTOs ect, but thats mainly because well, no one wants them. I cant really comment on their performance as ive never cared enough about them to look into it, but if you can by a 20 year old family sedan (a.k.a. a VN) for under $1000 and get it into the 14s, thats the real value for money id say. |

How much did it cost to make that VN get into the 14's but? And the reason you see less people in FTO's is because less were made and none originally sold in this country. You see less lambos then VL's and VN's but does that mean no one wants them? |

How much did it cost to make that VN get into the 14's but? A grand, including the cost of buying the car. Thats what i was saying, you could buy one for as low as $500 and put another $500 into it and if your lucky could see those times. Ill admit its not going to be likely, but still very possible if you were dead set of doing it. Just checked up on the going rate for an FTO, 10K-15K For that money you could get a VZ SV6, tune it and some 3.9 diff gears and maybe see VERY low 14s or crack a high 13. |

Well some of those mods wouldnt be allowed for the P platers that this is in regards too, but nevertheless shows that they are good for a quick pass. that is, if you're actually being serious in a topic this time. |

The xr6's are good cars, it depends on what you want, as there are so many all in the same league. depends on what you want and how much you want to spend. It all varies on the driver as well. But my mates S2000 beat monaro's up until around 100k/h. And his was stock as well. And yeah as 02gzm said were talking about P Plate cars..... |

Yeah ive got a mate who is on his Ps and is VN crazy. He has a very clean but stock looking VN sedan 6cyl bit of a money bucket but hey he loves it. To look under the bonnet seems stock bar headers, alloy rad and Slightly bigger throttle body. Has a built auto with TCE 3500rpm stall and 4.11s LSD. Engine is built bottom up with forged and treated internals, insane heads, custom cams and bradley stroker (4.3Ltr) ect full house motor.... and every other supporting mod including fuel system, trans and oil cooler all hidden. Its abit like V6 vengance but stroked and built just for NA minus the intakes out the bonnet. Also has group A 330mm brakes, braided lines and DBA drilled and slotted rotors. Nolthene bushes, all new suspesion ect. Has a really up to date style interior aswell and stereo. Just plain insane for a P plater VN. This car has ran once and a low 13 on street tyres and trim including heavy stereo shit. Minus stereo, spair tyre, rear seats and slicks would be a high 12. A proper racing intake manifold and tune would assume -12.5s. Mind you the car is 'hardly driven', driver is only few monthes from opens and is built ready for a capa procharger (thats why no ITBs) once on opens and funds permit. Ive always hated VNs but after going in this thing sorta gave me a new out look and what can be achieved when real money and time is put into one. |

I don't talk shit outside of O/T dude, Get Van banned Technically if you dig around deep enough in the vehicle safety acts and legislation, You need a mod plate for cams and all internal mods because it changes the cars emissions. but its never scrutinized. But in terms of P platers, you could work the tits of an engine as long it looks stock on the outside. |

Anyone see the new Wheels magazine? In September Holden are releasing another model i believe(or series or something) and the alloytec makes 225KW. fail post ecotoec is shit lol.. b16a vtec 4ages itll b e the life out of commos and xr6s around a track |

i've got a 5sp vn, with only extractors, 2.5" single, cai, and 4.11's (dont do it if you have to drive over 90km/h for extended periods) there great performance for the price, as quick as a lighly modded turbo 32, and has eaten every p plate car so far, but your buying an old car, if you've got more money i would definatly be going newer like a vz, alloytec's are great motors, and if you can afford a s2k that would be great, dont see many of them getting round on your p's. |

fail post ecotoec is shit lol.. b16a vtec 4ages itll b e the life out of commos and xr6s around a track Seems to me like he was implying commodores with ecotecs and xr6's Which yes, I think a corolla with a 4age or a civic with a b16 would flog around a track. So would the majority of the people that go to QR. Do you really believe that no commodore could possibly ever lose to a 4 cyl? No, I don't think 4bangers would always beat certain commodores. |
