Hi all, Im just new to this site so please go easy on me.. The project so far.... car: 89' 75 series cruiser, sick of havin no power. Engine: VN series 2 V6 Mods: Full rebiuld with acl race series everything reduced compression to 7.5:1 Garrett GT 3076R full custom pipe work, front mount etc. (single turbo setup) 2 x Bosch 044 fuel pumps, one to surge tank and one to engine Bosch 36lb injectors My main concern is the ECU, Ive gone to a lot of trouble to install the whole commodore wiring harness including instrument cluster, fuse blocks the works. Im now trying to figure out if I need to run a Programmable ecu like a Haltech E6X or similar. I was planning on just changing the memcal to suit boost, cam, fuel etc. Has anyone run 14psi on a standard ecu? Can I run a cheaper piggy back type? What would happen if I didnt change the memcal or ECU? Im not aiming for massive power/boost, I just want to know that its not gonna break when Im 1500ks from the nearest tow truck lol. -------------------- Nothing to fear, Nothing to hide

Why did you drop the compression so far? Plenty of people are running big boost into these motors with stock compression... compression helps bring the boost on quicker too. |

I ve dropped the comp. down so I can feel a bit better about not blowing it to bits when Im out bush or when I flog the fuck out of it and since Im rebuilding it myself its not a problem. |

Bosch 36Lb/333cc injectors You could also look at the 42Lb(444cc) injectors as well. |

find a dyno tuner with kalmaker software so the std ecu can be tuned to suit your engine with the mods in place,dont buy a memcal thats said to be tuned to the mods youve done,or you will be asking for probs,or you can get a haltech ecu which will plug directly into the gm harness and have more options when tuning.2 bar map sensor will work up to 15psi or use a 3 bar which will handle 28psi gm no 1223861 |

ok things are comin along pretty good, I got the motor mostly back together, I left the comp ratio at stock 8.5. Got the new turbo, its a bit bigger than original plan being a GT4082 so we ll see how that goes. |

I know when turbo ing other engines you need a good breather and catch can, but this motor has an internal PCV valve. Do I still need the catch can? Next question.. If I run a T piece from the oil presure switch, I can run my oil pres. gauge and feed the snail. Can I leave the oil presure switch unplugged? or will it fk with the ecu? Other wise ill have to have 2 T pieces to get 3 outputs. Next question.. Is there a specified distance for the Oxy sensor away from the block? What ll happen if I dont use a Cat conv?(other than legalality) just buy a 4way block one side screws back into the engine leaving 3 outlets for you to use. |

You will need two T blocks or a single 4 way or even run an oil distribution block. |

There is a vac line goin from the intake man to the throttle body near the throttle pos sensor. If I leave that hooked up wont it presurize the inlet? I think Ill block off the throttle body side and run the other to the catchcan which has vac line back to the air filter. Ive already installed the catch can anyway. |

That hose sounds like it is for the IACV system which is fine to be hooked up to the TB, as it inly opens when the engine is idling. Under boost, it will be closed. You do not want the ICAV sucking in oil vapours unless you want it to have idle problems |

It put som much presure in the block the oil was comin out the rocker covers. Catch can installed and all fixed. Thanks for all the help along the way. with a big ass bonnet scoop, how else? lol I thought about puttin another thermo fan on it like the WRC cars do. Where it is now there are no exhaust pipes anywhere near it. Last time it ran past the exh twice. It'll be way cooler than that. |

have a look at how close the intercooler pipes were to the exhaust before, its gotta be cooler up top specially with the vents already in the bonnet. |

The big thing here is actually making sure that there is air successfully flowing through the cooler. If it's primarily an off-roading vehicle, then I would say the cooler won't be very effective at all. Considered W2A intercooling? I think it would be much more effective in your situation. |
