Jesus Christ....JESUS FKING CHRIST....WHAT THE FCK IS THAT. This guy shouldn't be allowed anywhere near a car. I wonder what happens when he pulls up to his house, do clowns jump out or something? Whats with the $10 steering wheel cover, a bit short on cash after the 10k paint job? I know each to there own, but seriously, it looks molested and needs to be reported. People like that give Subaru owners a bad name. was gonna say wahts wrong with that, till i saw the word RX. fail. why did he not save the 10 grand and buy a rex????? |

nobody knocks them becasue they never see them. the worst one i ever saw was a holden rodeo (read: isuzu) with a chevrolet badge. epic fail right there. the jeep cherokee 2.4l has the same 2.4l they put in the chrysler pt cruiser, the dodge neon, the dodge avenger etc. am i about to put a chrysler or dodge badge on my car???? um noo COS THAT WOULD BE GAY. why would it be gay? BECAUSE ITS NOT A FARKEN DODGE OR A CHRYSLER the EXACT same thing applies to holdens with chev badges. ITS GAY COS THERE NOT CHEVROLETS why is that so hard to understand??? They are probably doing just to piss people like you off, I know I would if I had a SS/HSV. Get the fuck over it, hows it affect you? There should be bigger aspects to your life then worrying about what badge a complete stranger has on his or her car. |

But it's not a chev. Could always step to the next level of critical and say that the motors are actually made by GM Powertrain (there are no bowties on the block/heads at all) and appear in Chevs/Holdens/Pontiacs etc which are all subsidies of GM hence meaning it probably doesnt really matter what badge swapping goes on. So all the export Holdens to China/USA/UAE should all be rebaged as Holdens? A Nissan GTST is not a GTR, a RX impreza is not and RX and a Lancer GLi is not an EVO, an RB26 in a VL does not constitute it being a Godzilla... All in all Id say a chev badge being on a LS series Holden has more credit than anything else. |

All in all Id say a chev badge being on a LS series Holden has more credit than anything else. it might have slightly more than 'absolutely none' - but its still got none its not a chev, and having a chev engine doesnt make it a chev. it just means its got a chev engine. old excels have mitsubishi engines, so does that mean its ok to rebadge an excel as a mitsubishi? barinas had suzuki engines, so can they be rebadged as suzukis? (well they were suzuki swifts too, but besides the point). a commodore is not and never will be a chev, so putting chev badges on it is stupid. and before people say that putting STi badges on a WRX is just as bad - its not (i dont have any on mine btw, im just saying). STi is Subarus tuning company, not just a model of car. STi make parts for WRXs as well as STis. there are some people who put STi badges on their WRXs/RXs to make people think they have an STi, and theyre as bad as the chev-on-a-holden idiots, but at least WRX owners can have a legitimate and good reason for doing it. |

I also wonder how many people have tried to pawn off a WRX lookalike as a WRX? When my better half was car shopping she was looking at an Impreza in a car yard and had the salesman tell her the only difference between a WRX and RX was the W and an extra $10k. Had no clue there was just a few minor differences between the two.. Needless to say, he didn't get his virgin sale he was hoping for. ROCK ON R~R |

This isn't Offtopic. I'd be quite happy to laugh in person, along with your want to join the 'cool kids' with a 180SX and Vault Crystals. Oh, wait, the cool kids don't shop at Tempe. OT: Of course the long winning example of fakes is the GTR Mustang from the States with a rotary and forged pistons. ROCK ON R~R uhhhhhh whos got a 180sx with volt crystals? yeh we shall laugh in person |

As stated Chev are not a motor producing company, they are a brand. All GM motors are made by GM powertrain (which btw is a subsidary company of GM). If half brains were to be issued at birth this thread isnt about what motor is in a car its moreso people putting type R badges on 89 civics, GTR badges on POS r32/33s AND clubsport/GTS badges on kitted up commodore executives. I dont think my ute is a chev nor ever will, its a Holden. My engine has Chev rocker covers (off a C5 LS7)...... Maybe Ill take them off and be politically correct and find GM Powertrain sticker for my std covers to appease the masses?? |

STI make parts for the WRX Chevrolet make the engine for Holden. Same shit. Actually very much NOT the same shit. STi is like Nismo. STi (Subaru Technica International) is Subaru's tuning arm. While I don't agree with Chev badges on holdens, it depends why it is there. If they are trying to pass their car off as a chev. In the same way a GTST owner would try and pass their car off as a GT-R then it would fit this thread. But simply acknowledging the chev blood that runs in your car isn't so much of a crime. (but still a little wanky IMO) |

I found this quite interesting. QUOTE Holden Commodore See main article: Holden Commodore The Omega B platform was a heavily modified and enlarged as the basis of the Australian Holden VT Commodore and Holden VX Commodore. GM Zeta Platform QUOTE Development was started in late 1999 by Holden of Australia in order to replace the aging V-body platform underpinning their Commodore VT-VZ platform after sister division Opel announced that the Opel Omega (on which the Commodore was based) would be discontinued. Principal development on the VE Commodore was completed by July 2004 at a cost of approaching AU$ 1,000,000,000 and the first testing mules underwent trials later that year. General Motors global corporate headquarters took notice of the VE design and began studies on the utilization of the underlying architecture (internally christened Zeta by GM engineers) for a range of future products on a global scale. The idea of Zeta as a global platform was officially revived when GM announced the future Camaro would use the Zeta platform. The VT-VX Commodores were based on an Opel platform whilst the VE was Australias first own design that GM took into development. The only car to go into production in the States using this platform is the 2010 Camaro. Which you guessed it, comes out in 2010... (or only just recently if you have a robot friend that can transform) What is beyond me is the fact 'yadda yadda, it's not a chev etc' As far as I'm aware, the new concept muscle cars in the states are VE SS chassis' with just another body slapped on, would this classify it as a holden? If that was the case then we can classify most of commodores with chev badges as Opel's |

I hope for your sake it wasn't the new model, because they do infact come in a 4 door. nah man, it was like a 93-94 model, the old square ones that all the p platers have.. and last night went out for a cruise *sunshine coast* and saw a chick driving a Qs13, yet it had all the Ks13 garnish on the outside *boot badge, side badges etc*, was hell funny cause she was trying to do the one handed tuff driving style, yet as soon as we went past her and went psssssssss CHHHHHHHHHHH she put both hands on the wheel and looked the other way.. ah the young ones these days.. a bit off topic, but fuck me where did all the chasers come from?, only guy i know who has one is mick, and it's an oldy, but now there are like 4 new ones, when did this happen |
