Well i bought a film camera late last year, dont really know what i was doing so never used. Finally, did some research, bought 3 rolls of kodak film (1x iso400 and 2x iso160) and went and had a play. Was fun indeed and im happy with the results.. I also shot digital so ill post them up later tonight or tomorrow

Loving the sun shot. How do you get it to expose correctly with so much light heading into the lense? Mine always end up with massive flares...

Generally there isn't a whole lot you can really do, alot depends on the lens your using (more expensive lenses multi-coated lenses are less prone to flare) and you can remove the UV filter which usually helps. But i've read reviews where you can open up a stop or two to help reduce it.

Nice set Matt, haven't jumped in here for a bit!

With all my sun shots, i just crank the F Stop past F16 (i think the one above was F22), as the higher f stop gives you the nice star effect and just adjust the exposure compensation until you find something that works.. I use to do the same with the 18-55 and it works fine smile.gif

Jesus man.

You've nailed all the shots. Because now I'm becoming more familiar with DH and the likes, I love the mood you get from the shots and the sense of the speed they actually carry throughout the course.

Fantastic work.

I opened this thread, seen a new set and was hoping for more MTB pics!!

But jesus, i'm loving this set, somethings different, could be because of the boarder but jesus dude, digging these alot.

love ur angle that u shoot from always good smile.gif

caseyjohnphotography
Post #762

photos are cool matty, i've always loved the black boarders, especially the thick ones that are just at top and bottom, for some reason i just think it gives the image a better look, but depends if the boarder cuts down the photo

^ like this one, makes it look more professional from my view

anyway, good shots!

Thanks guys,

The reason for the borders is that im hooked on cinematic photography at the moment and have been looking for an event to try and achieve that look. I think i achieved what i was setting out for. Make it look like a scene from a movie. But i still have a few more ideas to take this style to a new level.

Harley, wont do MTB stuff again untill i get more reliable triggers hope to sort that out in the next month or two. Back to motorsport this weekend and next. But i plan to bring out some surprises for them smile.gif

Good to see you're able to start shooting a wider range of racing, another stellar set which sets off the visual senses. Thanks Matt!

matt mead
Post #767

Yep i dont know how im going to be able to shoot an average track day again, race cars FTW. Media accred is getting easyer and easyer to obtain which is nice.

Classic race cars this weekend, going to get a black and white set happening.
