Hey all. Just need to cart my bike 5hrs down the road. so i wanna tie it in the back fairly securely.
They're obviously not the greatest work truck of all time. but nevertheless its all i have so it'll have to do

Any help would be greatly appreciated

is that a serious question? if you cant figure out how to tie down a bike should you be capable of riding it?

The handle bars, evenly both sides, compressing the shocks. Then probably wouldnt hurt to secure the rear wheel too.

Get some tie down/ratchet straps. Secure to both handlebars and tie down until the forks are fully compressed. If it's a dirt bike I'd leave it at that but if it's a roadbike tie down the back wheel and maybe a strap over the seat (Don't tie it down too hard over the seat though because it will leave indents in the foam that will take a while to go away). Kick it a few times to see if it's going to move, get in car, drive. Probably best to check the straps every hour or so unless it's a POS and you don't mind it falling over. Don't leave them forks compressed for too long or it will root your fork seals

I know how to tie down a bike. its just more what to tie it to in a VZ ute. I only got the ute last week and haven't really looked at where to tie something to. will basically be at work during daylight hours until the weekend when i go and am just asking for a point in the right direction.

grab some stainless tie downs from BCF (marine use but work fine in utes) and chuck them in the back of your tray (bolt to chassis)

heaps useful, i got an 09 hilux and theres only 4 tie down points but they're up high in the corners and pretty useless for tying shit down that isnt higher than the style sides

about $50 each but as i said, stainless + strong

Gotta put the bike on a angle if you want to fit it in without the tailgate up. I used to have my bike tilted over a little cause of the sports bar thingo. 2 straps at the front is all thats needed.

i have small metal loops in the back they should be ok to use if you use ratchets mate
