QUOTE(BALSAK @ Apr 22 2009, 03:59 PM) That's actually a good idea..... They did it at the V8's last year? I was also a flag marshal at last year's V8's, and I can tell you all the officials HATED when the burnout and motorbike guys came out on track, because it meant cleaning up, which means people wait longer for activity on the track. Definitely not something that should be considered. QUOTE(beohbe @ Apr 22 2009, 05:52 PM) I thought it was okay how it was run......delays for tyre changes etc weren't too long....it meant you don't miss anything. Some people just have short attention spans I suppose. With a burn-out comp you'd have to consider the extra mess made on the track not only from the tyres but also if someones radiator went pop....right where you were about to drift through at speed. A bike doing stunts? Well that is going to cost extra $. I doubt someone good enough to put on a proper show would do it for free. On a totally different thing, nothing to do with the comp. I'd like to see the "judged" drift area have some timing gear on it, just so a baseline time could be worked out for that part of the track (by a circuit car), then time some of the drift cars through there.......some seemed to go through with a lot of speed. NAMSC have access to a speed gun, and it would have been great to know what peak speeds some of the cars were getting, especially the gold VL - it was FLYING into turn 11!!! As for the gaps between drifting, this could easily be solved next time as we'll all have a better idea of how things work, and hopefully also have more competitors. I know I was certainly confused early in the night about how things were meant to work, as we got told one thing, and then had different versions coming from all directions. I think as the night went on it improved, and we tried to reduce the time between drifting as much as possible. With around twenty or more drifters, I think there would be next to no gaps. QUOTE(Daniel180 @ Apr 22 2009, 08:29 PM) ..maybe they could get a leaf blower next time as a alot of dirt and crap from where people came off..don't know if that affected the drifters though Maybe everyone could just stop coming off the track? Anyway, while the dirt and crap would have affected the surface and grip a bit, as soon as they blow it off the track, there would be more on again shortly after. It'd have to be pretty bad for us to want to stop proceedings and get out there to clean up, because even a quick clean up will stop the event for at least five minutes, which will seem like ages to the audience. I think that the changes that will come about from lessons learned from the first event only need to be very minor - more food, better judges, faster turn around getting cars back on track. I'm sure we can all think of our own ideas for how to make events better, but they're not all feasible. Personally I think more high explosives and boobs were needed, but I don't see either of them happening in a hurry. |

Cars need to be cooled down, repairs / adjustments made ,i'm sure the drivers might like a chance to grab a drink or a feed during the night. The point is, what would you as a groud like to see? And i agree with adam, bring on the bewbs!!! The organiser of the stadium drift has expressed an interest in maybe holding an event in darwin too. Food for thought... I'll take care of the bewbs, I've got a white tshirt somewhere - the crowd just needs to bring their own water guns |

QUOTE(ScUd'EsS @ Apr 23 2009, 11:22 AM) Chris do you really want/need boobs!! Isnt it supposed to be a family event?? Well most events at HV are aimed at families and im pretty sure TEDA/NAMSC and Motorsports NT would like to keep it that way!! And im not sure why you'd want to 'add' to the event in its early stages now anyway. If things went great on the night and its just a few house keeping things to tidy up, then why overcrowd the event with other distractions, you will make the crowd lose sight of what they originally came to see which is the talent of these local drivers drifting?? Just my 2c! You're absolutely right. And the boobs don't need to be on public display - just need a hottie to walk around and flash anyone that's interested. First flash is free, $5 for each subsequent flashing. We'd pay for track improvements after one meeting! QUOTE(vh-holden @ Apr 23 2009, 05:09 PM) As it grows, won't there be more competitors out there, so that will get rid of some of the down time? Yes, exactly. QUOTE(Pure-SX @ Apr 23 2009, 05:11 PM) just need to do a RWD conversion on the levin No, you just needed to buy the right type of Levin in the first place, eg. AE86 or previous. You had the option of a proper Levin (lightning) or Trueno (thunder), and you got an AE92 (mild drizzle). |
