How about you drive your car into a wall.

I'm pretty sure I'll be laughing - you won't.

This thread is to SUPPORT NT drifting, not hope people crash.

Photo's are uploading to photobucket as I'm typing this..... going really slowly, probably coz I haven't edited the photo's at all yet - loading 3mb each or something like that.

Will edit the photo's a little with photobucket so that I don't look like a COMPLETE jackass.

Going to post photo's of Jay, BJ, Darren, and Jarred in this thread, and some others in the Photo thread in OT.

You're not the only one who was confused about the judging, including officials (both TEDA & NAMSC) and competitors. I believe that is one of the teething issues that needs addressing before the next meet. Maybe get some celebrity judges next time - Ken, Devo & yourself, perhaps? (I'm only half kidding)

Looking at these photos again, I can't say that I'm happy at all. I don't know why the quality was so shit. But it's been said before, I have to learn how to use the settings. I'll be practicing heaps.

Question about the drifting:

If the public isn't allowed at the Private Drift Practicing, would I have to join TEDA to attend and take photo's?

I think that is one of the problems with drifting (and burnout comps). You can't always tell the winner by watching. Even when I've watched drifting on TV I've wondered why the winner has won. Same goes for gymnastics and ice skating!!

A drag race or circuit race is usually pretty clear who has won, but as soon as judging comes into it, the results get blurred.

that pic of Darren is pretty good.
but once again, the grain comes into it.

well.... as for private practice... yes... you probably do need to join TEDA..... and im sure you have the money to blow on membership without actually having a car to drift in....

I'll jump on the TEDA website, check out the costs, contact whoever I gotta contact, and see everybody at the private drift meets :(

Notice that with the photo's, ISO was on 1600. There's the reason for the grain (noise?). I'll be playing around this afternoon.

Tim - could you clarify how the grain appears and how we can avoid it? What does the ISO 1600 setting that Quinton mentioned refer to?

They did it at the V8's last year?

Maybe just get some of the boys that aren't drifting to do some donuts/burnouts and get some guys with bikes to do some stunts. Everybody likes bikes.

the V8s are completely different because they bump the economy a hell of a lot more than a drift meet does....
thats the politics of it...

but still.... i'd be keen on seeing some skids :( always am :P

I thought it was okay how it was run......delays for tyre changes etc weren't too long....it meant you don't miss anything. Some people just have short attention spans I suppose.

With a burn-out comp you'd have to consider the extra mess made on the track not only from the tyres but also if someones radiator went pop....right where you were about to drift through at speed.

A bike doing stunts? Well that is going to cost extra $. I doubt someone good enough to put on a proper show would do it for free.

On a totally different thing, nothing to do with the comp. I'd like to see the "judged" drift area have some timing gear on it, just so a baseline time could be worked out for that part of the track (by a circuit car), then time some of the drift cars through there.......some seemed to go through with a lot of speed.

Daniel180
Post #1080

yeah every v8s they get the jack daniels car and the donut king riders/drivers...

maybe see if they can hold a burnout for the whole section lol

orange_gem
Post #1081

its a drift comp people not a burnout comp. and it wrecks the track.
it was wicked to watch and be out on track for 2 run's hahahaha
everyone went off on sat.

nar we wouldn't be aloud, and considering how pissed the judges where, it was probably the only let down!
One of them had to go home cause he was 2 drunk! hopefully the TEDA president will address that for next time! maybe then the judging will make more sense

It was mentioned during the NAMSC presentation at the end of racing on Sunday how well the event went and thanks was given for your efforts and support on Sunday. In regards to the food, they also mentioned that a food vendor that was organised did not turn up, leaving the weight on whatever was left.

Food is already been covered. Speed or Aaron will bring food down and is hell keen to do so though this time i was told that NAMSC was going to do it. Though think we will change it very soon

You should get in contact with Aaron (Sp33d) Bazz. Good operator, reliable. Even goes to places he's not meant to to get a sale. Im sure he would be happy to serve it up at another night meet.

Already on the cards.

hahahaha i did think that had something to do with it...kinda silly though what if some of you guys want to headinterstate to a drift comp and theyre running different rules to what your used to...don't make sense..

also another thing..maybe they could get a leaf blower next time as a alot of dirt and crap from where people came off..don't know if that affected the drifters though
