hey just wondering about my cheaper options for a snorkel without it looking like ass.

safari and airtec snorkels are 400ish new. just dont wanna spend that much on a bit of plastic.

i dont like the look of the PVC pipe type jobs. but i dunno what else people have done.

ive also tried alot of wreckers with no luck.

any ideas are appreciated, i want to spend up to 200ish on it

cheers

meh dont get the plastic shit, make your self a stainless steel one with rubber bends, costs about $150 i think ? theres a thread on it right now on 4wd action forum in the general section called " stainless teel snorkels " check it out, heaps of info there.

Stainless tube and bends are better then rubber bends.

As far as plastic shit goes safari is much better then the airtech snorkel.

anyone know where to get a stainless one made up, with stainless bends, and how much ill be looking at?

i know a guy at an exhaust joint and he can bend up to 3" pipe for me, is 3" too small

suppose it doesnt matter if i get welded bends hey haha

cheers

i think bubs might do stainless snorkels

You would want to get it tigged, and exhaust shop will dog shit mig it with mild steel wire.

Midway metals are good on prices for stainless.

I don't know if bubs has a tig, phone him and ask.

3" should be big enough for a lux, I could weld it but am short on time at the moment.

the reason i suggested rubber bends is because he said his budget is around $200, we all know stainless bends look better than the rubber bends but we are working within a budget here so i assumed stainless ones werent an option, but seeing as tho they are now...

Heres my full stainless snorkel.

Got that made for me at Nerang performance and 4x4. was $800 fully fitted and everything, didnt have to do a thing, thats also using 3.5" pipe, its much cheaper to use 3" pipe and i got more bends than needed because of the 80 series body shape, makes it a bit harder to bend around the mirror and keep it flush with the body, you wont have the same issues with a lux as they are very different and its much more simple, so it will be also cheaper for that and if u use 3" pipe which is enough for a lil luxy. also its only $150-200 more than it is to have a plastic one fitted so its not that much more for something special. =]

Safari are only $330 on Ebay.

Worth the money.

$800 for a snorkel is overkill.

ill take pics as i go if i remember, i have to relocate my radio aerial first an fill the hole in. and i have a water trap in that guard so i will have to take that out too.

i have surgery next week so then i have 4 weeks off so i have plenty of time to do it.

im not 100% on how i want to attach it to my pillar yet, i was thinking of a bit of stainless angle welded to it with some clearance holes and a couple of short tek screws

That looks great. Does anyone know where in Brisbane I can get one of these done? The bigger the diameter the better for me. I also have an 80 series, but with a turbo 6.5L V8 Chev engine, so the more airflow the better for me.

i spoke to this guy in neumann rd capalaba and he said he had done one on a cruiser before, full stainless, fitted, with a custom stainless air ram. he charges 65/hr, 55/hr cash

My dizzy has a rubber glove pulled over it now with leads coming out the finger holes and zip ties everywhere... it's almost water tight. it really just means i can go through really big puddles... not swimming though.
