'editing' per se doesn't make the images any sharper or crisper than they are. You can a little but it's all about how well you actually take the photo. Skills > PP ftw

I wasn't reffering to PP work when i was talking about sharpness,

QUOTE(matt mead @ Feb 26 2009, 08:59 AM)

kyle what you say is very true, but im a strong believer in that PP can make a great photo, excellent. But it will never turn a bad photo into a good one.

I do abit of PP with it, but in all honesty i cant really tell you what i do as its just a preset i made for myself about 6 months ago. What i do is batch process them all and then use thumbnails (on a 24inch monitor) to adjust exposure if required.

But when sorting i rank photos, all the photos i posted in this thread i ranked 5 out of 5. these photos are the ones i use on the net so i also give them alittle extra pp in the form of selective colour saturation and luminsoity adjustments. All the rest get exposure and batch treatment.

This is all done in lightroom 2.2

Yea I have started doing that with my shots, setting a preset and just going through the ones that need a touch up and PP them. Although My skills are no where near as good as yours and my subjects aren't as challenging either.

A vast majority of the space in those images is blurry so I'm gonna say statistically those shots ARE NOT sharp..

But really I'm just bored.

^^^^^smart ass lol

Well i was blessed with shooting one of the best tracks (bathurst) in aussie last weekend and it now makes me realise how shitty oran park is to shoot at lol. First time trying out bikes so i was only out for about 2 hours. All where shot behind the fence as the orgainises wouldnt let me go infront of the fence lol. Apparently they had a contracted photographer who also came up to me and asked me lots of questions on why i was there about 15min later the orgainises then announced over the loud speaker that all photographers standing at the wire fence had to move further away. I ignored the request and about 20mins later i was asked to put my camera away or leave the venue. It was quite funny. Some photographers are so defensive of there turff it certainly soured the expereince. The 400mm prime i picked up was awesome, just need to keep practiceing with it.

I like #12 the best, it looks like he's just skipped 5th gear and gone straight for warp speed.

Had a commisson with www.rallyschool.com.au today for some new shots for there website. Here are two snaps. This has been my most challenging shoot so far. Success rate has to be very high due to the limited amount of passes the drivers could do with out interupting there normal schedule. Was so much fun and all my shit got so dirty.

Please stop linking to sooooo many shots! Your chewing my bandwidth!!

I don't know there's something about the shots that just doesn't look right to me

Nick_
Post #629

'cause they're not panning?

I think they're good, I like the seat shot and I like the first but the vignette is a little harsh on the LH Side, maybe because the road is very black vs the RH side where there's grass? looks off balance is all.

TUN35
Post #630

Yes panning that's it... lol

They just seem a bit soft. #7 is my pick of the bunch smile.gif
