those persons deemed to be drifting too close may lose points?

WTF???

Anyways I hope that start point is enough to get into the top of 3rd gear for judged bit...

WTF!!! I CERTAINLY HOPE NOT!!! THAT'D BE BS!!

Reading the rules it seems there HAS to be a car length between guys, since there are no points for proximity I guess its not really a 'battle' of sorts.

Really this format is more suited to individual runs but any tandem is good tandem

wow $132

C'mon now, I know it seems a little odd, but too close would be door to door, not bumber to bumber! It was for two reasons,
1. we are still proving to NAMSC/CAMS that we can tandem safely, and
2. to encourage all of those with a street driven car only, to still participate without the fear of having a big orange VL coming through their side!! ha ha.

Just think of this first night as a testing ground. Once we complete it, with little or no problems, we can continue to push the D1 boundaries for the following events.

Just keep up the positivity in it all hey  it is going to be hell fun!

I'm not scared of the big bad orange thing

Infact you better qualify and rig it so we battle!

Also: welcome to the real world cost of drifting everyone.

But 3x times the amount of drifting!

I know it is costly, but no more than "down south" and will be well worth it.

an extra $88.00 over the normal, for 5 hours of drifting mayhem!

no one is being forced to do it, but it is what it costs, and if no one turns up, we just go back to drifting in the stinking hot day with all the other grip racers.

lars a basic round up of fees for a meet is cams fee can't remember off the top of my head about a bit over $1000 you would be looking at having to hire atleast 8 or 9 light towers to do that area plus then lights for spectator area so no one can sue you for tripping over a twig you still have the track hire witch is $500 a day.

just some of the costs involved in a meet.

and from all my reading of the cams manuel if you want to really start running door to door style battles look's like it's time to get your car log booked i just ordered a roll cage from bond for my new car and that's 1200 plus everything else involved it's time to start saving.

disclamer i have nothing against drifting i like it i get along with nearlly all of you but you are lucky to be getting as close as you are so don't complain just imbrace it.

Territory Laser Cutting
Post #816

Lights are part of the cost, we have to pay for the fuel they use, but the hire of them has been sposored by COATS HIRE, thank you to COATS for getting onto it so fast.

I like the people that force me to take a quick break between drift sessions otherwise I would probably drive the car to destruction

tyres do that job pretty well.

Actually yeah, killing a pair before the session is done sucks

I think the price is more than fair. Motorsport elsewhere in Aus is extortion. We have it good up here and take it for granted.

BRING ON THE BATTLES!!!! :wavey:

I'd be expecting the fire crew and ambo's there......making it the same as what they charge racers on sunday makes sense.

JET_RB25
Post #826

the price is fair though shane if you get eliminted from the comp section of it does that mean you pack your car up and go home or are you allowed to keep putting on a show for the spectators but are out of the running to win etc.

mitch_r32
Post #827

I would say that the competition 8pm onwards is limited to those who qualified but after that idk?

Zmit

well that still give you 3 hours before that to go nuts....

this is going to be sick. is there a TEDA Meeting coming up beofre the drift night 18th and fun day on the 11th? i think that they should be a break during the eliminlations or i can see people cooking motors and the business. should let the none qualifers have a bit more of a run that depends on numbers though.

oh that is a dam good idea right there. Have the guys still battling it out a chance to cool down and regroup and then give the non qual peeps a bit more track time. Not only that it will string the night out a bit and give the spectators more for there money and we all know that a good show will be talked about for months to come.

Shane your thoughts

Zmit
Post #834

definitely a very good idea.

have half the comp (from 8), break, then the rest of the comp

JET_RB25
Post #835

yep.... Think it sounds good. Gives peeps more track time more of a show and all in all more practise and we all know practice makes perfect. I think

FDrifter
Post #836

gday all, new 2 this forum. Im the guy with the fd rx7. As a learner drifter i need as much track time as possible. If there were sum 10 or 15 minute sessions after practice and quallifying for beginers 2 get more practice it could only b a good thing for expansion of the drift scene in nt. I will never get 2 the level of others if my night ends after qualifying. Anyway i need a new diff after blowing mine on sunday so i will do my best 2 b at night drift and try to put on a good show. If anyone can lend a hand (or hoist and air tools) 2 get the fd mobile let me know

JET_RB25
Post #837

always willing to lend a hand mate. when are you looking at doing it? Have you got a diff already
