i agree with what matt said. i dont see how shooting a track event can be "boring" the cars, angels, lighting, type of racing changes all the time, how can that made you bored??

when i was at lakeside i only shot from the inside of the track, and there was some awesome places to get good angels, but the guy that runs the track told me an awesome place to go next time, supposedly they get tripod action in this "secret area" cant wait till the next BMW club day.

Yer, when did you go to lakeside is it opening up again?

Looks like such a wicked track hopefully head out there soon.

Lakeside has been running private track days for some time now.

it's going to be closing or perhaps already has for some 'major work' but who knows now QR lost that big race title to Townsville or something, may have no capital to fix it anymore.

Not since it was closed, only years ago.

It is a great track, and for good reason. Take a little read on the lakeside track of the heritage etc.. It'd be a damn shame if they ever get it listed which means no work can be done on it, rendering it useless.. Sneaky politicians.

Have only heard about evens after the fact as I too want to go and check some details, Bergie should PM me when he knows when the next BMW day is on and I can come grab some frames.

yeah i went in september i think it was. the BMW club have track days at lakeside and warick. they go to each about 2 times a year.

lakeside has a website, and they have quite a few events going on though. they also have a petition against shutting it down, plus many other press releases and stuff.

unforunatly they dont list private events, id love to know when there is a porche day aswell.

next time i hear of any private days going on there ill be sure to let everyone know!

oh and on the website it said in 01 it got heritage listed and in 03 i think the EPA took them to court and got it lifted or somthing. id like for the track to stay private because its great how it is no big stands seperating the spectators from the track you can pretty much stand 10 feet away from the cars zooming past. im happy with it the way it is. theres nothing wrong with the ashvault i think they just wanna give the asthetics a revamp.

OK well i tryed something new today (for me today). Flashs are quite tricky at nighttime and require quite abit of photoshop to match ambient backgrounds with flashs to prevent over spill of the flashs light.

i then thought to myself why dont i try painting with light. So i went to supercheap and bought myself led rechargeable torch.

well i tryed it out last night and im quite happy with the results. Only issues i have found is that it takes abit of practice to get it right, the LED light its slightly blueish(so i may need to gel it) and you look like a dick walking around a car with a white light lol

Here is a before and after shot. Both photos where set to the same camera setting and both received identical treatment in Lightroom, and it was only really levels and a little adjustment to white balance.

After shot - Note the rear of my car got resprayed and it still needs to get cut and buffed therefore the orange peel on the car makes it a different colour

i also just bought a 540ez flashs which has a supersonic light feature, which i think will work even better then this... i hope it does as then all i will need to take t night time shoots is camera, tripod, remote release and 1 flash

My g/f had a uni assignment that required you to create a photoshop file that used more then 3 layers. So i thought i would help out and i went alittle silly used 4 times that many layers.

the perspective is fair from perfect but yeah get that

Anyway it was good fun and it something i want to do more of in the future.

Haha yeah the perspective is a little odd, but it's blended in pretty well. Perhaps if was a little further back in the image?

That's not bad man, I can't tell where the cloning has been with a quick look, it'll always be more obvious to you though because you've done the work/know exactly where to look etc..
