Thought i would post this now, as the GTHO is gone forever sad.gif It was my uncles but tragically it is now in car heaven. Info on what happened to it can be found here just scroll through comments for more detail.

https://www.boostcruising.com/forums/index....howtopic=308874

These were taken March this year the reason for them being late is the GTHO is worth $850,000 nower days and i have without a doubt in my mind that some no hopers on this site would try and hunt it down to theive it since they cant afford to buy one let alone buy a tyre. Now that it is gone i can post it up without the worry.

Enjoy

Ford Falcon Phase III GT-HO

Engine:
The engine was basically a pulled down and reworked 351 4V out of the crate .
Carby was a 780 Vac Secondary Holley specially made for Ford.
Intake manifold was standard cast iron dual plane 4V type with 2 modifications.
The two front venturis were opened out slightly and the exhaust gas heat exchanger holes were blocked off with grub screws.
Distributor was a modified Autolite dual diaphragm.
Heads were machined to take screw in studs and 3/8 inch pushrod guide plates.
Single groove valves and locks were used in place of the triple grooved ones.
Different spring and damper combination was fitted all ready to take the solid stick.
Cam was available in 2 types . One with a theoretical lift of .494 inch and the other with .524 inches.
Water pump had a .750 inch diameter dual ball bearing race assembly fitted to improve load carrying ability.
Block had 2 bolt crank caps and not 4 bolt as a lot of people seem to think, as it was just a pulled down.
Bottom end was balanced along with the new Boss 351 harmonic balancer .
Standard capacity sump had one mod. It had a 'crank scraper' type windage tray spot welded at the rear.

Exhaust:
Head Mod headers were used and these were of a tuned length type through a 2.25 inch exhaust to a special sports muffler at the rear, then 2 inch tailpipes as in the GT

Suspension:
Six leaf - 4 under main spring and one upside down on top of main spring.
Front springs longer than the GT to suit the later model type XA stub axle and upper control arm.
Upper control arm XA type with 3 stud ball joint not 4 as in XR - XY and shorter length for better handling.
Front sway bar that was 1 inch and a rear sway bar that was 3/4 inch thick.

Wheels:
15" x 7" Bathurst Globe Mags

Modifications:
Ummm are you fucking kidding, maybe new battery and tyres tongue.gif

Stereo Audio / Visual:
Whatever the 1970's had ohnoes.gif

Estimated Power:
280hp to 300hp

07 Ford Falcon FPV GT
Engine:
5.4ltr V8

Exhaust:
Stocko Twins

Suspension:
stoooock

Wheels:
19" sotckos

Modifications:
Zero, its my mums car tongue.gif

Stereo:
stock

Estimated Power:
290kw

Hey all, this is a Brand spanking new FPV GT, picked it up on Friday, it has around 50 odd k's on the clock, so it is definatly new biggrin.gif. It is an absolute dream to drive. I was hoping on aquiring one of the 40th Anniversary editions, but they sold 200 vehicles in around 2 weeks. So i jsut went with this.

As you can tell by my three cars, its very much a Ford Family thumbsup.gif

    My Collection:
    1970 Mach 1 Mustang
    2002 Mustang Cobra
    2007 FPV GT

Lol. I know its not the right time, But is the FPV Yours or your Mums ? squint.gif

Its such a shame to see a car like this go.. Out of curiosity, Was it insured for market value or agreed ?

Mate that really sucks, so sorry to hear...

I see that your uncle is in a chair, I am also a para and if you wouldnt mind tell him to shoot me a PM if he uses the net. I am not sure if he uses hand controls to drive, but if he does I would just like to ask him who he gets themm from etc, as I paid $1200 for a set and they are rubish.

If he doesnt thats fine mate, no harm in asking smile.gif

Hope you find the bastard that burnt it down, nothing can replace a car like that sad.gif

To me the $ value of the car wouldn't have meant anything, the fact that a very rare car with significant Australian history is gone is the worst blow. Even if this was 15 years ago I'd been just as devistated. Such a shame and waste of what looked to be a pristine car. Sorry for your uncles loss mate.

Also like it has been said, you can't just go down to the factory and get a replacement like you could with the fpv, even so the car would have held memories that you cannot buy. I think once you have owned a car like this you understand the nostalgia feeling that comes with it.

    nice looking GT,

Whats the highest one of these fetched at that auction a while back, I know a few have comfortably sold for about $350,000

and I remember reading back a while ago that one fella had his advertised for 1 million dollars, doubt he'd get that for it though.

My heart bleeds for you. As a fellow FPV owner, and the fact that my Uncle also owns (or did own, cant remember) a Phase 3 GT-HO, and my father used to have a XC Falcon, that was one of the 100 "Phase 4's" that was secretly released, he didnt know until after he sold it for next to nothing.

Nothing can replace what he's lost - all the best to him!

All the best to your uncle mate, that is a horrible thing to have happen. Tragic a car of that standard was lost to fire.

That sucks big time... I love both those cars but as said before Old Skool rules!

I only own a 1980 Escort and I'd hate to think about losing it so the fact you lost a car like that must be bloody horrible...

Last story I heard about one was a guy took his to a Lambo dealer and offered a straight swap for a car from the showroom..
