Hi everybody, dont know if i posted in the rite place, so please help me out along the way. I have a 1991 toyota corolla hatch AE94. The engine for my car is a 4A-FE. The problem is I'm starting to get a little bored so i would like to know how to increase the power of my car, even if its just a little. Hopefully getting the extra power with out putting a new engine (e.g. 4A-GE) or a turbo set up in my car. I am very happy with my car, just want a little more power. I don't have very deep pocket either still a student and work part time. All your input will be very appreciated. thanks This post has been edited by aazad1: Mar 2 2008, 10:57 AM |

Out of interest - Is there a reason this thread was kept open and here and the one in the Technical Section, where it should be, was locked? |

You could do a basic Cold Air Intake setup with a decent pod on the end, but once again it may sound tougher, however you probably won't notice much difference with a 4A-FE. |

QUOTE(TUFF747 @ Mar 3 2008, 06:07 PM) he might want something different It'll still be a hunk of crap in the end that could have made twice the power for half the money by selecting a better base to start with. Being different doesn't matter when you pour your money down the drain and still get blasted by bogans in stock VNs. So, in conclusion, again, listen to TinCan. ROCK ON R~R |

ok thanks for all the helpful info so far people. i know you are all right, the 4afe is a econmical, reliable engine and not a powerhouse, but i thought just might me able to kick alil more power out of it. i've been doin some research, and found some good news, just want to get some of your feedback on it. I read and was told be quite a few other 4afe owners that some mods could be done to get more power, as much as a stong silvertop 20 valve 4age engine while still being more economical. I will list the mods below: |

Do you realise that your going to throw all hopes of being economical out the window? Do you realise that the 20v is more economical than the 4afe to start with? Do you realise that you could do a 100kw 4age conversion for the same cost as the mods listed above? |

It's not easy or simple and you don't just get a free lunch as was mentioned it all comes at a high cost and your economy will be shot to shit etc.. Just do the engine swap, 4AFE is for grandmas. |
