I've almost got my brakes to where I want them, within a very reasonable budget. Now I am looking to fix the torque hole at 5-6000rpm. I look forward to seeing "gear's" updated beast!
I'm with jezza, my closest competitior, I might start just doing the WAS now days, but will have to see what I can do about work.

Does anyone know if QR will continue to do the morning practice sessions? I really want to have a go at the national layout.

make sure your brakes are well sorted before doing more than 2-3 laps on national not all WAS & SAS are preceeded by an open practice. just give em a call and ask

for work i tend to take the half day off, and make up the hours during the rest of the week. but im able to do that easily, not sure what you do for work so might not be as easy

There are generally 3 - 4 sessions for each group; groups are separated by your best lap time. So long as you've paid for the day you can join in when ever your group is on.

Fair point... if it was only for daily and weekend use, I would be looking for practicality... my rx7 offers a decent size boot, is ok on fuel (managed 10L/100K this trip to sydney ) and I can only take 1 passenger (a bonus for me...) I reckon if I turned my car into a track machine, I couldn't help trying to replicate it on a street car... thus spending a ton of cash on 2 cars instead of 1. I have only ever driven an Excel and a 90's 626, so I can't comment on the MX5 ... Every one who owns one seem to think pretty highly of the little roadsters though

You need your Cams L2S license. These can also be used for the QR sprints if you are interested in doing both. If you need a club to join to get your license, I recommend MGCCQ as the Mt Cotton hillclimbs are cheaper when you are a member of this club. Car prep is fairly basic. You will need a fire extinguisher and blue battery triangle. Otherwise just follow the cams rules for the class you want to compete in.

If the car is not road registered, I believe you may need a cams log book too.

MGCCQ will be holding a come and try day on the 10th of Feburary around the hill. I would strongly recommend going as you get some good pointers from the experienced racers and will help to speed up the learning process. Plus you can get a taste to see if you are into it before spending all the money. But get in contact with MGCCQ early as the spots fill out fast!

log books only required for state and national events at hillclimbs, so regular club events you need cams level2 and if the car is registered u need a 3rd party extension from your 3rd party rego insurer. I go to mt cotton regularly so ask away if you have any questions.

basic car requiremenst are car in safe condition, fire extinguisher, secondary bonnet restraint if car built before 1973 (i think its 73 aprox) catch tank for radiator, taped headlights, long clothes.

I asked them at the last sprints about it and they said to fill out the form and they'll get back to you. Work is ment to start after new years some time.

the link to the form is on the main QR page. i just got an email back after filling it in explaining they need to get some shade, water, toilet facilities sorted before they will be asking people to come help

this is finally the year i can do this, I used to make the trip just to come and watch, i will be out in an rx7...when i find one and when i get my P's in April, does anyone know if that black supra still competes, i remember when i saw it it anialated (spelling?) everything, the speed it got on the front straight was incredible...close to a V8 super car maybe...

I was wondering if some one can pm with some info on sprints, like where u get ya license from, wat the vehicle requires. all those sort of things.
I have been building a car for the track, not 100% finished, but i wanna start taking it out there, so as i keep goin out, i wanna see how much my car improves

Go to the Entry Form section.

You can drive any vehicle provided it's safe and won't drop oil all over the track (*cough* No S2000s allowed *cough* ). There are no minimum requirements. All you simply do is preregister and pay for the session, rock up to QR on the day and check in, tell them you need an AASA licence, fill out the other form they give you and pay for the licence and off you go.

Very simple, very laid back.
