#9 is great, I love the way the tunnel draws the eye and the blown out background frames the subjects. Good comp aswell! |

QUOTE(parko @ Oct 1 2007, 10:09 AM) There we go, quite the lens indeed! By my god is the D80's high ISO (well, 800 isn't that high at all) noise terrible. I'm mainly shooting outdoors and in the open with nothing really above ISO400 so I don't really notice it so much. I bet you'd love a D3 Harry! Yeah, I am craving a D3, ISO 25,600!!! That was brightened 1 stop in pp which made the noise far worse but it is still annoying as hell! |

G'day Harry, QUOTE That scooter shot is pretty bland my friend. I know i can't comment, but the horizon line is off, and the wall looks poo! I thought you would put a vignette around the scooter or something to give the shot a bit more life, depth. I don't know but my opinion with these shots, you have to go arty and really work the photo, to give it some more guts or balls. With that shot you can only do so moch before it dies. As stated before it is off on the horizon, but i like it off a bit. What you have done in the P.P. has worked well. The subway shot looks great. My fav. The sign writes might look better with out as much noise. This and that, they are still good. |

the noise is pretty bad in #1 and #4, and the lighting seems flat in #1 (guessing you used a flash mounted directly on the camera). The only other criticism is the white balance in 2 and 3 - must have been an ugly hue to the light! |

Having said that I'm sure they would have been happy, the shots with Ian McFarlane are nice and crisp #1 doesn't have any noise. It's ISO100 using HDR, that's why the lighting is so flat #4 is kinda noisy though. It was really annoying shooting there because shadows look so shit in that shed thingo. The shots were designed to be flat so that you could see all the details when it's blown up big. Commercial shots suck ass, they are so boring and illustrative. Thanks for the comments though. It might just be compression artifacts/effects of the HDR but in #1 I can see grain wherever there's blue. Still, good on you for posting up some of your more 'boring' stuff - I still found it interesting |

What do you think of the shots of old Johnny in the previous set? Harry |

With the Johnny set #6 and #7 are the standouts to me because they tell a story. The expression in #6 is great and him drinking the water in #7 is intended to send a message. Quality is fine in all of them though I prefer the ones more tightly cropped around Johnny. |

I wish I had boring shit to post up. QUOTE That scooter shot is pretty bland my friend. I know i can't comment, but the horizon line is off, and the wall looks poo! I quite like it - you immediately notice the big dark, dank wall on the left then the light in the lower corner leads yo to the scooter and you think "oh... a cute little scooter, what's this doing here?". |

Hey man, QUOTE(winza @ Nov 9 2007, 08:39 PM) shit harry! don't think i'm having a go at you, i just thought with the talent you have you could be a bit more bold and make bit more of a statement, you know really make the scooter stand out more. shit man, and i'm really just stirring, you know how picky i am when it comes to certain stuff. Fark, to everybody else i can't critique somebodies work like everybody else without being blasted, especially harry who has his 2 cents in everybody else work. to me harry is better than that photo and could make it work better, but hey everybody on this site has only seen a sample of his work and not everything. harry don't become ad JD! nate |
