Post #1 post 9th August 2007 - 02:18 AM
The thread created by ron180 today got me thinking (click here) ...

What sort of serious interest is there for this sort of thing?

I have the venue, I have a date booked and I know of 90+ cars that will be there wink.gif

There's obviously a lot to iron out but I just wanted to see how serious you guys are first ...

Please discuss smile.gif

Sounds excellent. Good way to find some good, obscure or rare parts.

I like the idea.

I can not see why it wouldn't work. As long as people know where and when there must be a heap of parts left over or upgraded

I've always wonder why someone hasn't started one of these, it should be a great success.

I have lots of leftovers and need more bits and pieces to further progress the car... I would be a buyer first to see how it all went before i set up a stall at the next one.

sounds like a good idea anyone keen on putting the effort to get something going?
we will have to look at something like beenleigh show grounds .they have the ocassinal swap meet there so id say the show society would be cool witha swap meet there ,they also have tables supplied plenty of area , parking and toilets ........another good idea is to contact some one like the disabled society to run the food vending area as a donation ,also funding will be needed to pay for a venue up front so some sponsors would be good,to make the people come pamphlets with info of the event would be handy ,could also organise the fire department to come out with there fire demo van ,organise a show n shine ,have a sound off ,there seems enough peoples interested to warrant such an event has anyone else come up with any type of plan .cheers geoff

On the 18 th of august theres a super swap meet at willowbank anyone keen on going should be a few sponsors and people out there may be a good time to and see how its run plus i will be having a stall out there ,

Ok things are looking serious so we need to>
contact venues pricing
choose a date that suits most people (make sure no other events are on the day we choose)
theres also the question on whos handling the money at the end of the day Id say get someone form the venues society to be there on the day to collect the cash from stall holders so theres no dramas .
please post prices ,venues ,contact numbers ......
whats happening with the banyo site recommended any more info contact numbers would be good.cheers geoff

Having a swap meet just for parts is awesome. But if this was at a showground (Lots of room) there would also be the opportunity to incorperate private car sales as well.

Go to the meet. Answer any questions potential buyers might have. All in a relatively safe/controlled environment.

But of couse that would be upto the organisers.

Cheers

Dave
