Thanks heaps man, you might want to edit your post a bit, just so the quote doesn't include all the pics, it just slows the loading time of the page down.

2nd one B&W, Route 1 and Fishin' are awesome. The first one and Keep Out i don't like how theres so much background, the highway one seems abit over-saturated.

thats awesome harry, the red bag really stands out, it would of been even better if you could get a bit more definition out of the red. it works perfect with the shot.

Cheers guys, Tyler, I did a quick edit of it to make the bag stick out a little more, I am pretty happy with the result.

I went to Silverchair last night, got a free ticket, so i thought i'd sneak my camera in. The bouncers were not impressed, so i ran away, into the concert with the camera, fat arses couldn't catch me.

Here are the results.

All taken with the sigma 18-200 f/3.5-6.3 -> Exif info for them was pretty similar, all around 100-200mm, f/5.6-6.3, ISO 1600-3200, 1/60-1/100th.

I was pretty impressed with the noise control of the D80 considering the ISO was consistantly 1600+ and pretty heavily cropped. The last one was 200mm, f6.3, 1/100, ISO 3200 and about a 50% crop

What do u think?

there all great shots, last is my favourite.

Thanks for that everyone.
I do love it when i get to sell the shots I take for fun, even taking shots for work is still an awesome way to make money.
Getting $40 an hour to take photos of naked women or women in their underwear (i'd post them if i could but work takes them off my card as soon as i'm done) for work is pretty sweet (most of it is not that glamorous though, mostly products in a softbox). I get about 20+ hours work per week. So much better than the crap jobs my mates at uni have to do!

But, it is not without it's costs... I just bought the Nikon 17-55mm f/2.8 for $1950... OUCH!!
I get it on thurs/fri, can't wait to try it out. I'll post some stuff up when I get it biggrin.gif

Cheers

how did you get such a job

vp_s_wagon
Post #797

I was offered it by my mate's dad, he owns a graphic design business and he was looking for a photographer. When my friend showed his dad my smugmug page he loved it and called me. He also loved the fact he can "get away" with paying me $40 (an hour as opposed to the $70 an hour the old guy charged him).
By charging him $40 an hour it means he can afford to hire me as a casual employee instead of only hiring a photographer for special occasions and doing the rest himself (he has a D70s and a few decent lenses) so i get heaps of work from him.
I also do work for a place that does Graduations and Balls for $34 an hour and i get about 30 hours a week from them between november and april and average of about 5 hours a week at other times.

I'm pretty happy with where i am in terms of employment. That's why i risked the purchase of the 17-55 f/2.8, because i know i can pay it off.

Low light and noise can be a bitch sometimes but it can also work and add atmoshpere in some cases. I reckon it works with these, especially the B+W ones. Nice

I got my new 17-55 f/2.8 yesterday...
Fark me it's so sharp, acurate, silent and fast! I am so happy with it. It was worth every cent!
Here are a few (crap) shots i took of the city this arvo to test this thing out.

#1 - Perth City @ 30mm, f/5.6 ISO200, 1/50th - No Sharpening

#2 - Perth City @ 55mm f/5.6 ISO100, 1/25th - No Sharpening
